Stephen Jackson’s Swagger Still Fully Intact

The denizens of Charlotte are quickly finding out about their player’s fearless approach to the game: “It was Sunday night in Cleveland and I’d just asked Charlotte Bobcat Stephen Jackson what he was thinking as he stepped to the foul line with 21/2 seconds left, the game in his hands. I thought I heard him say, ‘I make love to pressure.’ Mind repeating that? ‘I-make-love-to-pressure,’ Jackson repeated, knowing he sounded glib and provocative, but also accurate. I later heard that Jackson used that line before as a Golden State Warrior. It fits him. Jackson is a character. But he also has character. He and, to a lesser extent, Flip Murray have added swagger to the Bobcats. That’s an ingredient they very much needed. To me, swagger is a way of saying, ‘Don’t mess with me. I can back it up.’ That’s different from bravado, which is pretentious – faux confidence.”

What effect has this swagger had on Diaw though? His game has gone to hell since Capt Jack arrived.

  • riggs

diaw can kick rocks as far as BETCATS is concerned

riggs is correct. Diaw needs to play hard or get the hell out of town.

I remember how much Jack’s swagger was needed in 2003 when he helped my Spurs to a title. He made some huge three-pointers at crucial moments, and his confidence and daring seemed to increase just as others were beginning to wilt under pressure.

There were also some times when he was in an emotional funk and played poorly, but on the whole, he was a clutch player.

Please come to Cleveland at the deadline. He’s one who will not defer to Bron and keep the ball moving (which is a good thing).

Stack Jack brings it wherever he goes, in manners that not all fans might appreciate all the time, but the guy is unquestionably a gamer. GS would’ve been better off getting rid of Nelson.

I love captain jack, because captain jack loves the game. Simple and plain. All the other bull**** people come up with is plain hater garbage as far as I’m concerned. Clearly his only concern is being a better baller, which he has stated and backed up throughout his entire career. Who am I or anyone else to fault that? Especially in a league of hype, potential, raw talent and all sorts of other garbage that never seems to improve the quality of ballers or the nba….

look, Jack is a quality player, but he also makes love to shooting 7 for 24 from the field!

If Cap’n Jack makes love to pressure, then what Kobe does to pressure is unprintable on a family website such as this!

that tattoo always reminds me of that line in Nas’ No idea’s original: “it’s like God or guns. Which is better protection? Can’t decide, that’s a hard one”

thats a goodass line tho gotta admit….

Diaw is sick, if the bobcats arent greatful of having a versatile player like him, the raps would love to take him off your hands
