Kobe Bryant’s Dad to Coach College Hoops?

Surely, this would be just a small holding gig until Phil Jackson retires: “Kobe Bryant’s father, Joe ‘Jellybean’ Bryant, is applying for the vacant head-coaching job for the University of Hawaii men’s basketball team, according to KHON-TV. Joe Bryant, one-time head coach of the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, said he intends to turn in his application Friday. If he got the job coaching the Rainbow Warriors, that’d make for some added fun if the Lakers ever make it back to Honolulu — Jerry Buss’ paradise — for training camp.”

Maybe some of Phil Jax’ kids need to play for Coach Kobe. Nice reversal.

It brings more attention to Hawaii basketball program, they should hire him. He can’t be worse than Roy Williams right!!!!

UH Basketball is not a joke….where would you rather be, some small school in Wyoming, or Nebraska??? Hey, the weather is great, the recruiting won’t be that hard…a few UH players have made the pros. Wjat’s this about Lebron’s dad, dude, the article is about Kobe’s dad, a man who was a proven NBA/ABA/European player. His game was ahead of his time. At first when the Lakers got Kobe, I thought he might grow more, to about 6’9, but he didn’t, he did put on over 40 lbs of muscle. His father, JellyBean Bryant, his game was a little unorthodox, creative, like Magic. Home court advantage, the opponents are mesmerized by the Hawaii lifestyle, ask Ralph Sampson.
