Bryan Colangelo Feels The Heat In Toronto

Listen, we’re not the only ones dishing it. From the Globe & Mail: “’He came in with great DNA and great credibility and this is a tough time for Bryan,’ Richard Peddie, the chief executive officer of MLSE, said. ‘He’s feeling it.’ Those close to Colangelo describe him variously as humbled, worn and humanized by the recent turn of events. ‘He’s getting banged on by a lot of people,’ said one source, requesting anonymity. ‘A lot of people are nervous.’”

Interesting that you use the word Heat…they will certainly be in the running to get Bosh this summer.

    As he should!

  • greatest.

hes always sweet talked us rap fans into believeing in what he says and does. Until Bargnani, Jose and torkulu are gone, im not a rap fan anymore.( throw in Triano too). shit none of these guys are american let alone black.

Andrea Bargnani over Brandon Roy will hunt the Colangelo era. Didn’t make sense to me then and it never will.

What does MLSE know? Most of the damn hockey fans around here in Canada need to butt out. The true fans of the Raptors trust and will always be around whether Bosh leaves or stays. Sure we can imagine, what if we took Roy over Bargs, but that just insults the players on the team.
Toronto been around 16 years now. If this wants to be a winning product, it’s gotta get into the luxury tax world if they want to contend.
Why are outside forces who focus more on the Leafs and the NHL butting in when they should just let BC do his thing. Sure he’s made some bad decisions. Too much turnover and not enough commitment. I’m a purist I guess and I just wish there were more Tim Duncans who stay with the same team all career.

Real talk, BC effed up huge with contracts to Calderon, Kapono, Hedon’t, JO deal, the colossal mistake of all colossal mistakes – Bustnani.

‘He’s getting banged on by a lot of people’ – that’s what she said.

Calderon, Kapono, Hedo, and JO, were all good moves at the time. That’s why every year people talked about Toronto’s promise of things to come. Bargnani is, and was, a great choice regardless of how much more valuable Roy might have been. There are health issues about Roy right now. Who knows who will be more valuable in two or five years between the two. The one mistake Colangelo made was letting the Smitch go.

What I don’t get is, no other team was looking at Bargniani before the 2006 draft. People only knew about him because of the buzz coming from Toronto. So couldn’t they have picked Roy #1, and chosen Bargniani with their 2nd round pick?

  • bashmo

@ AL29, that mightve been the case…if bargnani turned out to be a complete bust..He isnt quite #1 overall pick material, but hes developed into a consistent, 17 ppg center, who can stretch the floor and create matchup problems…and the raptors needed a center at the time of the draft, so thats why they went with him. Regardless, he probably wouldve left in the top 15 in the draft if the raps didnt go for him, most likely top 10.

@greatest…Congrats on coming up with the dumbest comments of all time on Slam

@greatest erm, k. Thanks for playing.
@Mutoni/Ryne (assuming it was one of you two who did the head-line) – sirs, I congratulate you. Not only do you mention the semi-inevitable Heat/Raptors relationship, but you also mention ‘heat’ .. because it’s cold in Canada/Toronto. I geeeeeet it. Ha.

I don’t think Bosh is going to Miami, I don’t think we are going to do any deals with Miami personally I see Bosh going to NYC or CHI… or HOU…

That draft class was generally regarded as weak, anyway. I’;m so sick of people ragging on BC for taking Bargnani. NOBODY knew what kinf of player Roy was going to become. If you look at mock drafts Bargs was going to be picked #1.

Ever heard the term hindsight is 20/20?

I still say we should have traded the pick or took aldridge first

  • homer-griffin

Kapono was NOT good from the start, it was stupid because he provided no defense and we had enough shooters.
