Hedo Turkoglu ‘Commanding a Lot of Attention’

Hedo wants out of Toronto, and according GM Bryan Colangelo, there are plenty of NBA teams willing to take him off the Raptors’ hands. From the Toronto Star: “It is the roster uncertainty that will undoubtedly have a greater impact on what next year’s team looks like rather than the addition of one unproven player. However, Colangelo could offer little more than assurances that if there’s a deal out there for Hedo Turkoglu he’ll make it and that the Chris Bosh situation is far from resolved. Turkoglu has said he wants out of Toronto after one disappointing season and Colangelo said Tuesday that Turkoglu is ‘commanding a lot of attention’ in the myriad trade discussions being conducted. ‘All the uncertainty would lead you to believe there’s a lot of balls in the air, a lot of trade discussions happening right now,’ said the general manager. ‘How the roster looks today, it’s going to look entirely different, I’m sure, a few weeks from now when it all plays out.’ But there were few specifics to come out of Colangelo’s last public meeting with the media before the trade. But sources have indicated there are a “handful” of teams actively interested in the 30-year-old Turkloglu and the Raptors remain among the most active teams in pursuing deals before the draft.”

Ray, a throw in, and the 19th for Hedo. Do it Danny.

    BOOOOOOOO!

Any team with a less than ideal PG situation should be after him at the SF. He-Dude is a willing passer and keeps any offense flowing. What he can’t do is play on a team that is too PG driven…where the PG dominates the ball. Toronto was playing with two PG’s last year. That sh!t didn’t work with Turk who doesn’t think shoot-first and passes up open looks to keep the ball moving. I think Minnesota could be an interesting landing spot with all their picks and big men. But Toronto should be able to get more than Corey Brewer.

He has over $40 million left on his cotract! Who in their right minds would be interested in him?! I’m calling BS on Colangelo.

    ball

Orlando would love to have him back. Not anything against Vince, but Hedo really fit in well there.

I really wonder where he will wind up.

He’d still be a good fit in Portland, with B-Roy. He’d also go well with Joe Johnson or LeBron in a Triangle type offense.

Houston with Yao (remember him?) and Brooks would work well; facilitating while Brooks drives and hitting outside shots when Yao draws attention.

    LDR, my thoughts exactly

Hedo is a “contract year” player. Contract year players only ball when it’s time to get paid. Hedo is a finalist for the Contract Year Player Hall of Fame. Recent inductees into the Contract Year Player Hall of Fame are Michael Olowokandi, Jerome James, Tim Thomas, and Larry Hughes.

Don’t forget Ericka Dampier. Dude rocked a menacing double double in GState in his contract year, then disappeared in Dallas after getting paid.

  • http://slamonline.com Chris O’Leary

I think BC saying there are lots of teams interested is a ploy to try and generate interest that’s not there. This is a massive contract with four god awful years left on it. Hedo = herpes. The Raptors are stuck with that sh*t.

co-sign Chris O’Leary & LDR, but as someone who lives in Toronto, please God, let it be true. otherwise we might just have to bottle him the nex time he shows up at an event..

yah alot of teams must want an old lazy euro SF who can’t guard anyone and shoots a low pct and makes 13 mil a year for the next 3 years. burning up the lines for him! sure…

  • Kap

Lebron dominates the ball too much to play with Hedo.

  • A Mac

Come on… Vince for Hedo… anyone? LOL (would anything make VC retire quicker?)

    Nobody wants him now

  • kobesBESTfriend

Hedo’s best years are behind him

  • fgdfhf

For teams that really need him and could really use his skill set, they don’t care about how much years he has left or how bad his contract is. They’d take him.As a Raps fan, this is awesome because I wasnt so sure teams would want him due to his age, bad contract, etc. We finally get rid of him and more importantly, we get back talent for him.

  • zop

“Hedo, do you want to be traded?” “Ball”

  • iLL wiLL

BS. Colangelo is just making this up. No team in their damn mind would take on Hedon’t contract.

  • Ronald

Urgh, I hate to say this, but he would fit pretty damn well in the triangle.

  • JoeMaMa

The Raptors will get a good, not great, pick this year, and build with Derozan, a decent FA pick up, Bargs, and whatever they get from Bosh’s sign/trade. I’m optimistic, I’m hopeless – I’m a Raps fan.

Yeah, I think Colangelo is just doing a bit of posturing here. With Hedo’s terrible play last season and hefty contract, I can’t see him demanding a ton of interest.
