Knicks Looking for a Backup Point Guard

Anybody want Bill Walker on their team in exchange for a low-rent PG? Anyone? Anyone? Is this thing on? The NY Times reports: “The Knicks have made inquiries to other teams about acquiring a low-cost backup point guard to preserve the starter Raymond Felton, according to two N.B.A. executives with knowledge of the organization’s discussions. The Knicks are looking at players whose contracts expire at the end of the season in order to keep their salary-cap space for the summer. They are willing to part with Bill Walker, according to the executives.”

so what the hell is toney douglas then?

Bill Walker is gonna make someone’s team. As for the backup PG, I don’t know what impact he’ll have because we don’t know which team would make that kinda trade.D’Antoni is a funny ass coach, I’ll admit that.

I think they should add Eddy Curry to that offer. D’ Antoni doesn’t seem to want to even let him get garbage minutes…

Toney Douglas’ Dougie aint fresh enough to back up Ray Felton…

In all honesty I thought Toney Douglas deserved to start this year before Raymond Felton was signed… They better be moving him to the SG spot if they want a back-up point, because he can actually play. I think D’Antoni just h@tes anyone who can play defense… Like Douglas.

Douglas plays great D, however he is more of a combo guard.

They can always offer Stephon Marbury, Allen Iverson, and Steve Francis… oh wait, nevermind.

  • Gabe

They should up Sharron Collins or one of Minnesota’s 10000 point guards.

It’s not that Toney Douglas can’t play, it’s just that he doesn’t know how to run a team and play the point. Anytime Felton sits, and Douglas runs the point we always seem to play outta sync. That’s why Felton’s playing almost 40 minutes a night. Douglas is a better 2 guard than anything.

Shouldv’e just signed Allen Iverson to a 1 year deal….SO DISRESPECTFUL

How about packaging walker, douglas, and curry to the wiz for gil?

  • toon

what about rafer alston? is he still an active player or is he retired?

  • O

If Amare and Felton keep playing this way and lead the Knicks to a playoff spot, shouldn’t they be in the MVP conversation. Just saying…

  • http://itsahardwoodlife.blogspot.com omphalos

@O: No? It’s the Eastern Conference. So many weak teams there right now, earning a playoff spot isn’t impressive enough to give MVP consideration.

    Telfair?

  • biged

If they wait to the end of the season they should try to get Ricky Rubio somehow

  • DZ

I like that trade for Arenas that somebody above me mentioned, if they add some draft picks and maybe even cash consideration to the deal, it can work, only thing i doubt is that Gil would wanna play behind Felton. I think that they should get Bassy, he is great as backup PG, he can run the point and could not play D, that is exactly what they are looking for. And him being NYC native, its just sounds right to me! And btw, Rafer Alston is still active, but plays ball in China or somewhere like that this year.

Don’t they need a starting point guard first?

quiet is kept Rafer Alston lead a team to the Finals not two years ago……shhhhhhhh

I like the Acie Law idea.

  • hob

in my opinion i think they should pick up rafer alston becuase he could run the ball down floor even though he’s 34 he still got skills and he is a low rent point gurad and he’s a free agent!!!

  • hkevin
