Phil Jackson Dislikes Kings-to-Anaheim

The Lakers coach calls the potential move “ridiculous.” From ESPN: “Before Los Angeles’ two professional basketball teams — the Lakers and Clippers — tipped off Friday at Staples Center, Lakers coach Phil Jackson seemed a little ticked off about the possibility of a third NBA team joining the mix. The Sacramento Kings are looking to relocate to Anaheim, less than an hour drive down the 5 freeway from downtown L.A. ‘What other metropolitan area has three teams in it? It’s ridiculous to put another franchise in this market,’ Jackson said. ‘It just doesn’t make sense to do that.’”

because it’s phil’s last year and he drops gems of quotes, especially when he doesn’t give a F anymore since he’s retiring.

  • slamfan4life

Phil Jackson dislikes a lot of things.

  • MikeC.

I kinda hope the Lakers win the title this year so that Phil has the chance to go out on top, but mostly so he’ll give an end of the year and end of career blowtorch speech after the last game.

  • doyouwantmore

Why aren’t you guys talking to Sacramento fans and publishing their opinions and soundbites? They don’t have star power but at least there’s an actual story in it.

  • http://www.yougotdunkedon.com LilKDub503

Phil’s been running his mouth a lot lately. Not to say I don’t want to listen, but it’s been often, maybe overbearing.

Clippers to St Louis or Seattle. The NBA is not thinking straight if they are going to Allow the Kings to move into that are while the lakers and clippers are there

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/officerbarbrady what

The NBA wants all its stars in big markets anyway, so might as well make every team a big market team. Except OKC of course.

  • John Lmao

“Anaheim, less than an hour drive down the 5 freeway from downtown L.A.”
with the 5? ish…. depends on the time of the day lol

I do agree with Phil tho, 3 teams might be too much and the lakers already own this town….
I almost wanna say the clippers will give the lakers a run for their money next season but honestly we’ve been saying this every season (Brand, Kaman, Baron Davis…etc)

  • Smackem

I will agree wit Phil. Nobody want 3 LA teams. MLB have 2 team, NFL has none, and NHL have 2 team. If they have to move go San Diego.

  • ClydeSays

Three teams seems especially stupid when you consider Seattle still won’t have a team… And I feel bad for Sacto fans who supported the that team even in lottery years…

  • hadto

@’tards Phil is ‘running his mouth’ alot this year but he’s hardly ringing the press up; telling them to get here asap and listen to what he gotta say. Instead, the media go, hey Phil give us your insight on this-n-that then publish it through their outlets. Phil’s got opinions just like everyone on here does, even you ‘tards irrational judgements count as opinions but they just so happen to be full of so much blind contempt they can’t read as anything other than hateration. Personally, I don’t even like Phil, he’s too good and let alone he’s never coached my Sixers, he has coached the two most dominanting teams for the last TWO freakin’ decades. Regardless, his opinions matter and ARE respected, otherwise, they wouldn’t be published so much. Peace out

  • Yesse

I wouldn’t really expect Kings to get too much of a profit from that area since Lakers and Clippers are near already. Unless the tickets are made for broke.

They should move the Kings to either Seattle or Las Vegas, forget Anaheim

  • http://slamonline.com Mars

Cali has four teams. smh. LA does not need 3 of them. Texas has three teams. New York Kings? Seattle Kings? Who else is in the market? Las Vegas should take advantage of this opportunity. They’re the only ones missing a team. Las Vegas Kings. That shyt sound nice

  • http://dude Chukaz

i don’t feel bad at all for Sacramento losing it nba team. They’ve been wanting a new arena for ages, and it ain’t like the kings didn’t try to stay. Its nothing like with Seattle where the new ownership never tried to keep the team in town. The kings tried to stay. Sacramento didn’t make it happen

  • horsey

Vegas needs a sports team more than we need a new mayor (unbelievably desperate need for a new mayor).
