Andre Miller’s Future With Portland Uncertain?

The Blazers are at an interesting crossroads, stuck between bringing in new, young talent and holding onto the older vets. The Oregonian reports: “The Blazers’ other major decision with their roster is point guard Andre Miller, whose contract has a team option for next season. Miller has said he would like to return but will leave the dealings for his agent. Likewise, McMillan said he would leave the decision on Miller to Cho. ‘I like Andre, he’s done well, but I can’t talk about contracts,’ McMillan said. Miller was the lone true point guard that McMillan used in the Dallas series. The Blazers used Roy, Matthews and Rudy Fernandez extensively, but all are shooting guards, requiring one of them — usually Roy — to be the second-unit’s point guard. If the Blazers retain Miller and don’t believe that Patty Mills or Armon Johnson — the team’s other true point guards — can develop enough to become reliable backups, they could look to free agency. Dallas’ J.J. Barea and Toronto’s Leandro Barbosa will become unrestricted free agents, and Phoenix’s Aaron Brooks and Detroit’s Rodney Stuckey will become restricted free agents.”

Barbosa is not unrestricted yet. He has a player option that he needs to leave on the table first, and considering that it’s for 7.6 million next season he’s likely to stay in Toronto unless someone is willing to throw more than that at him.

Seriously, 2 this day I just do not get as 2 why we keep either trying 2 trade him or not offer an extension 2 him. What more does Miller have 2 do? 1st round series against the Mavs I thought would b proof enuff. But probably not. We gotta keep him

Miller’s the best option, especially at the price.

He’s a matchup problem for almost every team so keep him.

I don’t know why they’d even think about letting Miller go… He’s the best available point guard for their team and always shows up to play. Do they really expect Brandon Roy to facilitate the offense every single possession?

Trade him to the Lakers, for Steve Blake.
