Report: Knicks Working on Deal For Jamal Crawford

They’ve already waived Chauncey Billups and signed Tyson Chandler and Mike Bibby, but it appears the Knicks are not done wheeling just yet. According to the NY Post, they’re attempting to set up a three-team deal that’d bring former Knick Jamal Crawford back to the Big Apple: “The Knicks and Hawks were in active discussions today on a three-team sign-and-trade deal that would bring combo Jamal Crawford back to the club, according to an NBA source. One source said the trade has a better than fifty-fifty chance of happening. The Warriors are the third team involved in the talks. Knicks guard Toney Douglas, a native of Atlanta, has been included in one scenario of the talks that began yesterday. Crawford is one of the hotter free-agents available but the market hasn’t been as strong as expected for him. The Knicks only have their $2.5 million mini exception available to offer in a two-year package – which Crawford would not accept. In the sign-and-trade proposal, there’s a chance Crawford can clear over $5 million per season. The Knicks will announce the signing today of another Hawks guard Mike Bibby but view him as a backup.”

The Knicks could use another chucker. 5h!t, in D’Antoni’s system, who cares about defense? You just have to score a ton a points (more than your opponents too, of course).

    This idea es no bueno

I always find it comical to read these internet GMs passing their opinions off as facts. Having good team defense is about energy, Effort, & communication (“playing on a string”). Not how many elite defenders you have. The Knicks currently lack scoring off the bench. They struggled to score when Stat/’Melo were resting. They could use Crawford’s 6th man act in NY. D’antoni has one more year to prove he’s serious about attention to detail on the defensive side. He’s been talkin’ about it, we’ll see.

Drunyce, are you trying to say that jamal crawford is going to be a good defender? or the knicks might be a good defensive team? cause neither of those things are going to happen. Elite defenders are, well.. elite, because they put in energy, effort, and communication on defense.. I just think that the knicks will not be able to stop anybody and they will never win a ring if they keep stockpiling players that only play one half of the game.

You obviously lack reading comprehension. The point was you DON’T need elite defenders to have a good defensive team. I already stated what Crawford would bring. Also, the knicks are making an effort to get better on the defensive side. Whether it works or not, who knows? but to talk as if your opinion is absolute is moronic.

like you said, elite defenders are willing to put in energy, effort, and communicate. Im saying that melo, stat, jamal, and bibby wont do those things. This is a combination of unwillingness to do so and lack of defensive talent. I understand your point that you don’t need a team full of defensive stoppers to be a good defensive team but what you do need is a team of players that possess a combination of desire/willingness and defensive capabilities. Im saying that the Knicks do not have that.

Sure, you don’t need a bunch of elite defenders to be a good defensive team.
But you need your players and your coach to at least give a sh*t about defense and as of right now, only Chandler, Shumpert and Douglas do.

Knicks will surprise ppl this year on both ends of the court… can’t wait till we see Miami

The Knicks definately have the best front court in the NBA. Not only about sizes, but speed as well. Which PF and C combination can move faster than Amare and Tyson? I dont think there are, even DH12… only 1 person to stop 2 persons or may be 3……….

I think the PG position is very very important. SG… can be cover by Landry Fields / Iman Shumpert. Let the rookie contribute, let them fight for that SG post. The Knicks will be good. For PG, having Bibby is not good enough…

I Think It Would Be Better To Have A Pass First Type PG! Then Have The Scoring PG Come Off The Bench.
