Tyrus Thomas Wants You to Stop Ignoring Him and the Bobcats

It’s rare for the Charlotte Bobcats to make the headlines (unless they do something notably terrible), and that drives forward Tyrus Thomas crazy. Per the Charlotte Observer: “My drive is because of the fact every other team is getting mentioned right now, whether it’s their blockbuster trade or how good they’ll be,’ Thomas told the Observer Monday. ‘So I know we have to come in and work. My drive right now is to be mentioned. It just disgusts me when you watch ESPN, and out of the 30 teams you’re not mentioned. I think a lot of our guys have that chip on their shoulders. Just to show we’re in the league, too, you know?’”

No one takes you seriously when MJ’s your GM and Owner.

  • http://www.optimabbc.be Max

Would be so funny if nobody commented on this.

  • shuref00t

I can’t take a professional sports team seriously with the name Bobcats. Always sounded like a little league team to me.

  • Sean B

Seriously why is there a team in Charlotte? I understand North Carolina is basketball crazy, but they’ve proven they care more about the college game then the pro’s. They already lost one team and were awarded another?

  • http://www.nba.com/bulls The Babe

No one takes Tyrus Thomas seriously because he’s been the same player since 06…

  • http://www.slamonline.com Cheshire

Move em to Seattle! Where’s betcats?

  • http://www.optimabbc.be Max

Serious question: Would UNC beat the Bobcats?

  • iLL will

    SMH.

  • fruizm

@Max….so you just ruined it haha.

  • http://Gmail Dirty Frank

I don’t ignore them. I mock them quite frequently.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

The Bobcats will be ignored like the last kid being picked for kickball. We know your there, we aren’t going to compare you to the other best teams, but we will openly mock y’all when we start talking about teams that would be more successful if they played in the D-League.

  • @Deknowz

He does know he plays for the Bobcats right? Sit down and enjoy the paychecks cause that’s all that team is good for!

  • barnabusb

    BISMACK BIYOMBO!

  • iheartbasketball

some one said something about moving the cats to seattle i dont think they should do that i think they should move the NO hornets to seattle then rename them the sonics again and then give MJ the option to rename bobcats the hornets again

  • Think Tank

Kwame Brown just ignored his way to the warriors…

  • http://www.listerblister.blogspot.com rainman10

a winning record in ’09’10 and a trip to the playoffs. Last season, 38 wins with a talentless roster. I’m not ignoring them. And btw, UNC would get smoked by the Bobcats.

  • Rik Smits Mullet

    i must co sign barnabusb.
They got the player with the most manly name in the league
    Bismack Biyombo For MVN

  • Dante

Dont be surprised when the Bobcats look good compared to the rest of the old farts in the league whenplaying back to back to back. Hes right though. We killed the Lakers last year and Boston, and all we saw on ESPN was their highlights. They just want to me recognized when good. Check last years standings and the year before. They were bad but not that bad. If you could watch them play, which you cant unless you have league pass or live in the area, then you would see they actually have a lot of talent. Henderson, Thomas, Maggette, and Biyombo are gonna be a good combo. And dont be surprised when DJ and Kemba are on the floor togeher to shake it up. Lets see Paul Pierce keep up with that!

  • adam

    whats a tyrus thomas?

  • http://www.google.com/news BETCATS

    I’m right here, Cheshire

  • Wall Ball

Tyrus thinks he’s better than what he is…He’s made like 2 improvements on his game in terms of I.Q out of hundreds possible. With Kemba, a rookie, he’ll attempt to position himself as the MAN aka a go to scorer. He will fail because his attitude sucks. If he hasn’t been working relentlessly this summer the same will remain. No work=no love fam…

  • http://www.google.com/news BETCATS

Rich Cho. That’s a name to take seriously. The Bobcats are attempting to set themselves up for the future, but they have to undo all the mistakes by MJ + LB. Gerald Henderson looked really good at the end of last year and CHA did get the best player in college basketball last year too. I could see a top 5 pick this year, but they have a few pieces

  • MikeC.

From what I can tell, the main reason they’re ignored is because of the awful, short-sighted local cable deal Bob Johnson set up for the team. They’re not good enough to get more than the bare minimum national exposure, and their games are only broadcast locally. It wouldn’t surprise me if only the hardcore fans even knew there was a team in Charlotte.

  • Heals

As long as this car accident of a franchise keeps MJ at helm and Maggette as the focal point of the O then Ty need not worry cause we’ll continue to give a glance when our favorite teams drive by…

  • phamp44

duno about all you fools but i definately wont be ignoring Kemba Walker. To me he is the most exciting rookie this year (until kyrie irving proves otherwise).

  • Chris

I live in North Carolina and I’ve met people who’ve never heard of the Bobcats.
    Yeah.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

    Co-sign Rik Smits Mullet.

  • mykel

    kemba ballin 2K

  • http://www.slamonline.com Wayno

Dear Tyrus Thomas, you’re not that good. Sincerely, everyone.

  • http://www.t-mac.com/tmac/index unf*ckwitable

    I like the Bobcats.

  • Wray

You want my attention? Play better.

  • dan

well, its nothing against the players. the problem with the bobcats is just, that the jerseys and logo and all that just lack any stlye and are such a pain for any eye, that its really hard watching that for 48 minutes or more…

  • ThaKidNoah

Charlotte has a NBA “Say Word” lmaooo

  • http://dgcoursereview.com Bro.D

BETCats and I are probably the only two on here that watch Charlotte with any regularity. That being said, MJ is not a bad owner, Rich Cho, tank mode, and Silas coached team that could possibly be fun to watch is all you need to know.

  • Bojangles

It’s hard to get noticed when Corey Maggette is the focal point of your offence

  • EtheKnickFan

Stop playin D-League ball n step up son. 25 pts per n 10xtra wins would do it(neither is likely)

  • MUBWAR

den hit the nail there. last season the bobcats officially had the worst jerseys fallowed closely by the bucks. the last 2 comments: y so ruuuuude

  • BBaller

I miss the Charlotte Hornets, cool strip and nice players in LJ, Mourning and Mugsy. The “Bobcats” does sound little league.

  • http://bobcats.com jermareodavidson

Hey hey hey! Imma new slam member! N my team is the bobcats. Watch. Winning doesn’t happen overnight. Every franchise was new at one point. Were on track for success.

  • manu

change the logo in the unis…so ugly

  • dan

ive got an idea, teams should put the right names in the right place. so that the teams names have a relationship to the roots of the place they are playing at. makee it charlotte hornets again. call new orleans the new orleans jazz and then the utah morons or mormons or smth like that.

  • http://www.huwlhopkins.com #6marjon

get a new team name. get better.
you do this and we’ll do that

  • furiousfunkfanatic

He is right, the NBA should stop to ignore this miserable franchise. There are two solutions: Move it to Seattle or contraction!

  • Vis

I live in Charlotte, but anytime me and any other hoops fans talk about them the first thing to come up is the horrible name and jerseys. They hired a great GM in Richard Cho(as you can see in the draft picks last year). It is also on the bobcats to reach out more to the community to let us know they exist because out here it is dominated by the Panthers(nfl) and college ball.

  • Ryan D.

Whoa Whoa Whoa hold up. There’s a team named the bobcats?

  • thecomputerdude

@Vis. I’m in Charlotte too and I don’t know what MJ is doing with this team. Gerald Wallace was a franchise player and great dude on and off the court but we sent him away. Next we trade away Stephen Jackson. So now we have no scoring. We had a chance to pick Klay Thompson in the draft but we pass and pick up a 18 year old player nobody has ever heard of. Kwame Brown doesn’t re sign so now there is Boris Diaw at center? People are going to ignore the Bobcats for awhile until they start making some decisions that make sense.

  • hillbilly

Tyrus, I’m gonna keep on ignoring you. ‘Cause it’s the only thing I wanna do. I don’t wanna eat. I don’t wanna sleep. I just wanna keep on ignoring you (and the Bobcats, too).

  • JD

    what? who said that?

  • http://dgcoursereview.com Bro.D.

Gerald Wallace is not a franchise player, stop taking crazy pills. That’s the problem with Charlotte fans, their basketball IQ is lower than Alaskan temperatures. Half of them probably think it’s still legal to run the 4 corners offense.

  • http://www.realgm.com Nate James

I think the Bobcats have a chance to make some noise. But there are a lot of other teams being ignored too. Pacers, Raptors, Clippers (not now they have Blake, and CP3) Bucks, Twolves. But I live in Portland and when I watch SportsCenter we get no air time for either Basketball or College football. Its all about the big market teams Lakers, Boston etc.
But I agree OKC, and bobcats really need to stop wearing WNBA jerseys, and fix that up. Bobcats need a logo, and name change.

  • Elliot

We will stop being ignored once we start drafting successful players. we really havent had one great player that we have drafted. very sad. hopefully cho will help fix that problem. we are on our way, itll just be 2 or 3 years

  • http://bobcats.com jermareodavidson

Okay Bro.D. you don’t have to insult the charlotte fan. Sorry that we can’t have a dynasty like the celtics, lakers, or bulls but I mean a fan is a fan no matter what. The games are still exciting to attend and no matter what the front office does, ill be here to support……..jjackass
