Andray Blatche Hears Less Boos on the Road

Andray Blatche and Washington Wizards fans aren’t exactly getting along, and the Wizards’ forward says that it’s easier for him to play in enemy territory these days. From the Washington Times: “He doesn’t have to worry about the fan reaction when his name is called during pregame introductions, or hear a chorus of boos every time he misses a shot. He does his best to tune it out, but Andray Blatche understands that for most Wizards fans, he’s become the poster child for all that ails Washington in its 2-14 start. Relaxing with his teammates in the visitors’ locker room Monday, Blatche admitted that his confidence might be a little bit down, and knows he’s struggling with his game right now. ‘It’s probably because they expect better of me,’ Blatche said of fans who boo him. ‘They could be right, I don’t know. For some reason, I’m just in this big funk. I can’t hit a shot, can’t do what I want, it’s just crazy.’ But things are sometimes easier on the road. ‘I actually come out and I’m not so hesitant,’ Blatche said. ‘I do what I really want to do, and not worry about getting booed.’ [...] ‘Once we start doing better as a team, get a few ‘W’s’, things will change,’ he said. ‘When you’re losing, everything is under a magnifying glass.’ Roger Mason Jr. believes Blatche looks forward to road games, because no player wants to be booed at home. ‘It’s a difficult situation, but I think he’s handling it well,’ Mason said. ‘The biggest thing I tell him is, ‘You just have to stay positive.’ We need him out there. It’s kind of counterproductive [the booing], but at the same time, fans have a right to voice their opinion, so he’s just got to fight through it.’”

You don’t hear the boos on the road because people are laughing when you come to town! You’re 2-14! What team doesn’t want to invite the Wizards in for a quick win??

This guy fascinates me (obviously not a Wiz fan). He’s totally aloof one moment and the next he can be incredibly perceptive…

Feel for Blatche. DC can be the most negative city in the world…Not his fault the he’s a hybrid 3-4-5 on the most unstructured club in basketball…..I wanna heap all the blame on Flip Saunders, but thats too easy….Leonsis is a good guy but the franchise has been driven to the ground under his watch, he’s got to start making some tough decisions, and repainting the uni’s and hardwood isn’t one of them. Flip Saunders has worn his welcome- he needs to go and soon, obviously has no handle on this club after 3 years (really feels longer than that lol)….I don’t know maybe he needs more time. But decisions have to be made, If Nick Young and Blatche aren’t in the future for the club they need to go and be relaced with other pieces.

Andary, the next time those fans start booing, just imagine they are all sitting there in their underware. Be thankful that your are realizing your dream and embrace the journey. Seek out teammates and connections that offer assistance, pleasure, and fulfillment.

They got the talent. They need direction. I would love a defensive minded coach come in. Maybe a Zen Master lol

Blatche needs to give Josh Smith a call. He went through something similar. In the meantime though, boo-urns.

I’m all about results baby….said Flip needed to be fired soon and within 15 minutes SLAM reports his firing……naw not funny, never funny when someone loses a job…but the we he had them guys playing he was probably counting the days to get the axe himself.

Tell Blatche stop throwing parties every Friday night at Fur and maybe we wouldn’t boo you. Blatche sucks anyway who cares what he thinks. He should be lucky he’s not in the D-league

@JTaylor21 I’d actually rate him ahead of Dirk. With his skill set he’s looking at a HOF career!
