Paul Silas Thinks Some Bobcats Starters Have ‘Given Up’

The Charlotte Bobcats have only suited up for 11 games so far this season (losing nine of them in the process), and the emotional cracks within the locker room are starting to show. Reports the Observer: “These are troubling times for the Charlotte Bobcats. Shooting guard Gerald Henderson articulated that well following a 111-81 loss at Philips Arena Thursday. ‘If you’re going to give that performance, then you’re not better than the final score,’ said Henderson, who finished with 16 points. ‘That’s who we are.’ Hawks forward Josh Smith toyed with the Bobcats, finishing with 30 points and 13 rebounds. Even minus center Al Horford (out up to four months with a torn pectoral muscle), the Hawks grabbed every stray rebound. ‘Atlanta got as many offensive rebounds as we got rebounds,’ said coach Paul Silas. While that was an exaggeration – the Hawks had 20 offensive boards, the Bobcats 30 total – the point was valid. Silas is at a loss for how to get this team – losers of five straight and often in a severe talent deficit – back on track. Silas said his starters have ‘just kind of given up now. I don’t know what to say.’ Then he added, ‘I tell my players, we’ve got to learn from our losses. That doesn’t seem to be coming very quickly.’ There’s little time for correction. The Bobcats have home games tonight against the Detroit Pistons and Saturday against the Golden State Warriors. Power forward Boris Diaw, who Silas said had to excel for this team to succeed, went scoreless for the second time in this 2-9 season.”

Sucks…. bobcats have talent but just don’t know how to use it out on the court

  • JoeMaMa Posted: Jan.13 at 11:03 am
    BYRON!!

  • Max Posted: Jan.13 at 11:17 am
The games I watched they actually played good team ball.

  • T-Money Posted: Jan.13 at 11:19 am
jayrose: they actually don’t. i think they’re the least talented team in the nba, that 8-man rotation is brutal. when corey maggette, gerald henderson and boris diaw are your 3 best players, you’re going to lose a lot of games.

    ^
They also have a guy named Augustine..

…who else hates 2 PG backcourts??? its annyoing to me….kinda football teams who play two QB’s

  • Zack Posted: Jan.13 at 11:53 am
Anyone else watching BCats games getting the vibe that Kemba has ZERO interest in being there?? Sucks for him, it’s like they have four players that even try to win. Diaw is a fat bum. Byombo was a terrible pick, and Mullins is their highest scorer?? EEEEEEK.

  • Zack Posted: Jan.13 at 11:54 am
^^ And Diaw needs to do something about those damn worms on his head.

  • L Posted: Jan.13 at 12:23 pm
Zack no one’s really interested in the bobcats apart the local people.in all this they still can’t find a way to give Kemba more than 20mn of burn per game. That’s wack.l

  • vctmac Posted: Jan.13 at 12:26 pm
give kemba minutes, and at this point what they got 2 lose. they shud prob bring in jr smith, i mean, if im not mistaken, jordan is still a part owner right? why not bring some offensive power. and release augustine (who i actually like) and roling the dice on kemba and maggete. the bobcats need to make moves, before the NBA decides to relocate just like the seattle supersonics; who in actually 2 seasons, have been a rising topic.

  • Allenp Posted: Jan.13 at 12:38 pm
They’re best player is playing in front of their top draft pick.
    Always dicey.

  • robb Posted: Jan.13 at 12:50 pm
@vctmac what do you mean by “jordan is still a part owner” he’s the majority owner man, everybody knows that!

  • Michelle Posted: Jan.13 at 12:59 pm
1st step: put Mullins in the starting line-up
2nd step: force Diaw to lose atleast 15 pounds!

  • MikeC. Posted: Jan.13 at 1:13 pm
When I was watching the Bobcats lose to the Knicks a couple nights ago, I was shocked by how little talent is on that roster. There is nothing worth watching other than the hypnotic bounce of Diaw’s ample bosoms.

Mike, get over the crossover and sign Iverson. Sell some tickets and go with a DJ, Kemba, AI tiny but fast lineup. You’ll still be awful but at least you’ll be entertaining.

  • MikeC. Posted: Jan.13 at 1:29 pm
@Tro – if he’s signing Iverson, MJ might as well see if Patrick Ewing still wants to play.

  • MaxIsNative Posted: Jan.13 at 1:31 pm
And if Ewing wants to play, MJ might as well see if Jerry West still wants to play.

  • anonymous Posted: Jan.13 at 1:58 pm
jordan is a disaster in the front office. the only reason why he`s still there is b/c his name is michael jordan. and as much as I want to see AI back in the nba, I know that charlotte is not the right organization. they continuously lose talented players like chandler, wallace, and jackson and get little to nothing in return. the main issue is the front office`s inability to access talent in drafts and exchange equivalent talent/potential in trades or free agency. either clean house or move the house seattle or somewhere new like las vegas.

  • Heals Posted: Jan.13 at 2:09 pm
@Michelle at least Boris hasn’t “given up” on seconds and dessert…

  • Caboose Posted: Jan.13 at 2:43 pm
And if Jerry West wants to play, MJ should see if Wilt’s corpse could at least take up some space in the middle.

  • Allenp Posted: Jan.13 at 3:02 pm
    Their.
    Hate when I do that.

  • Tarzan Cooper Posted: Jan.13 at 3:20 pm
    Just not a quality team.

  • Michelle Posted: Jan.13 at 3:33 pm
@ you mean hasnt given up desserts?

  • MikeC. Posted: Jan.13 at 5:49 pm
From the looks of Boris’ boobies, he hasn’t given up on seconds, desserts or second desserts.

  • JoeMaMa Posted: Jan.13 at 6:09 pm
@Allenp: you corrected yourself; respect. Their are those who don’t correct there posts.

  • Bro.D. Posted: Jan.13 at 6:58 pm
Hey, look at all the dumb comments from people that have seen maybe 2 Bobcats’ games!

  • house Posted: Jan.13 at 7:34 pm
@Bro.D:I watched 2, and that was one game too many…..

  • Tarzan Cooper Posted: Jan.13 at 7:45 pm
    Mmmmmmm second desserts

  • One Posted: Jan.13 at 10:34 pm
    Time for a MJ comeback

  • ThaKidNoah Posted: Jan.14 at 1:17 am
And this is the same Boris that torched the knicks a few nights ago and almost scored 30

  • Hursty Posted: Jan.14 at 9:17 am
Please, don’t blame Silas for this mess.

  • Ldub Posted: Jan.14 at 12:12 pm
Play who wants to play. Sit who doesnt show the effort. Youre only hurting yourself and the team (as a coach) to play people whom you feel are “giving up”.

  • Gametimeweezy Posted: Jan.15 at 1:31 am
Nice to see Kemba finally get the start tonite. This team is not a playoff team please turn the rook loose and let him play!
