Agent: Greg Oden ‘Has Interest’ in the Miami Heat

According to Greg Oden’s rep, if and when healthy, the Heat is one of the teams that the big fella could see himself continuing his NBA career with. Reports the Miami Herald: “[Agent] Mike Conley Sr., told us Oden is positioned be ready to play in December or January “as far as being effective and in shape” and will explore options in the coming months, with the possibility of joining a team next season. But nobody obviously can know for sure when he will be ready. The Heat hasn’t called but ‘Greg has talked about Miami,’ Conley said. ‘He has interest. He’s not retiring.’ Oden, the No. 1 pick in the 2007 draft, has played just 82 career games for Portland (which released him in March) and averaged 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. Whether the Heat takes a flyer on Oden or not – and Miami has nothing to lose, really, if or when they ever deem him healthy – the bigger question is this: With limited financial resources, can Pat Riley significantly upgrade at center during the Big Three era?’”

Maybe they will be competitive with Oden.

Of course Oden has interest in the Heat. The league is full of d*ck riders and bandwagon hoppers. I can’t totally blame him tho. Son’s career prolly won’t last more than a year or two more – if that – so he might as well guarantee himself a 90% chance at a ring. Plus this’ll open up the doors to a bunch of “Hey LeBron, glad to see you and your father worked things out!” kinda jokes.

who read the grantland article? didn’t he say he might sit out all of next year to get right and get his degree?

  • sam

But do the Heat have any interest in Oden? They get Anthony and Turiaf in, what they need is a guard.

We sure have some smooooth “Nick’s” around here.

  • RunNGun

Someone drinking too much kool-aid? Maybe Eddy Curry can show him how to put some weight on his frame by hitting all of Miami’s waistlines… I mean buffet lines.

Man, I hate what injuries have done to Greg Oden.

@spit hot yeah he said he was taking next year off

Has interest in playing for the Miami Heat?

Greg Oden isn’t even a pro basketball player. Lol. The entire article is hilarious.

  • apache

course he has interest in the team with one of the best odds to win in the league whatta scrub

  • gani

i just hope that oden’s agent is looking out for whats best for his client. i read the grantland article and i remember greg saying he was good financially. don’t see why he’d rush back in the nba when he did say he wanted to take a year off to get stronger.

really what miami needs is bench scoring, rios more than capable point guard, considering having bron bosh and wade, someone like jr smith comming off the bench who give miami just what they need.

  • roybot

He has all of this next year to work on his weak right knee and get himself right. It’s all on Oden how much he still wants to play NBA ball and commit to workout schedules, etc. because I believe that he could still turn out to be a pretty decent bball player throughout everything he’s been through.

  • Mack

If they can get Oden and keep everyone healthy this teams gonna laugh on their way to a championship. Joel Anthony and Ronny Turiaf isn’t gonna cut it at the 5

    Should go to Phoenix!!

  • iknowmybasketball

miami needs to get rid of mike miller and mario chalmers. i have never seen these dudes hit shots when they are wide open.

  • iknowmybasketball

miami should bring in jason terry next year btw.

If Oden goes to the Miami Heat, the whole state of Indiana will disown him.

  • LA Huey

If Oden wants to have a decent basketball career, he’d go to Phoenix. Miami has a need for a big that could give them a solid 15 minutes off the bench but no money.

  • Y.C.Chen

Oden obviously knows that only miami heat needs a back up center because other than chris bosh, no body can play at all (no offense to the players, but they really play bad) so i think Oden is smart, he knows where he can be useful rather than career ending move.

He might be smart to you bro but he hasnt learned a thing. HES NOT DESIGNED FOR BASKETBALL! recognise! ! Word to iknowmybasketball. Chalmers & Miller are proper stinkin it up.

  • Yesse

Who wouldn’t be interested in playing for Miami Heat?

The question is, is Miami Heat interested in Oden?

As much as I’d like to have a decent center on this team, if Greg is gonna look for a team to join, his best bet is Phoenix. They do wonders revitalizing players with major injuries

  • http://www.slamonline.com Cheryl

And speaking of Phoenix, I’d rather have Nash than Oden.

  • will

just think, if he gets healthy and returns to his once pre-nba dominant days… potential GOAT

  • bike

He should be saying he’s interested in playing basketball again. Period. Worry about what team you wanna play for later big guy.

  • http://none kbdumas

Lebron and Oden looks separated at birth, dont’cha think?
    Lebum: Papa???
Oden: Yes, I am yar Fadaarrrr….

A person with considerable wisdom once told me that it is a healthy habit to… dream out loud.
Anyways, Oden has to say things like this. Keeping the morale up. So he won’t completely lose his mind.
I really hope that things will work out for the lad.

Whoever signs him will get great production out of him for about one quarter of a season if that!

  • follow-me-@G3RMAN_RAMOS

The Heat or The Magic would be a perfect fit for Oden,he could surprise & break out nicely by reviving his career b cuz the talent & potential are still if he shakes off the injury bug with a little luck.
