Report: Bobcats Will Draft Either Harrison Barnes, Thomas Robinson or Brad Beal

The Charlotte Bobcats have a tough decision to make this upcoming Draft day—with Anthony Davis likely to be off the board, they’ll have plenty of prospects to choose amongst, with no clear-cut No. 2 talent in the bunch. Looks like they’ve got their decision down to three names, though, according to the Chicago Tribune: “One major problem for Jordan is that his team needs help at a lot of positions. According to several NBA front-office execs, [Michael] Jordan is deciding whether to take North Carolina small forward Harrison Barnes, Kansas power forward Thomas Robinson or Florida shooting guard Bradley Beal with the No. 2 pick. ’It’s a good draft, but there is just one star,’ one NBA executive said. ‘But there are kids in this draft who could be in the league for 10 years and be nice players.’”

Take Barnes. He will be a better pro player.

BET who would u pick out of the 3?

T-Robb seems like the most logical choise.

  • 2Quick

Looks like MJs got a good list this time around but i’d take Michael Kidd-Gilchrist before Bradley Beal if i had the chance

  • sam

They could’ve just said they can’t take Anthony Davis.

  • cbb_fanatic

I hate when you have to choose between a group of good players. I honestly can’t say for certain who the better option is here. But I guess they will choose based on what position they need the most help in (with Barnes being a SF, Robinson a PF, and Beal a SG). I know some people might say they need help in all areas, but what factor could you use to determine who’s the best fit? Especially with the fact that the Bobcats have a lot of weak links highlighted by the lack of a coach. Gilchrist should have been part of this group. Here’s a guy that can give you offense, defense, and the much needed team spirit that the Bobcats lack.

Barnes..easily..they need scorers..bismack and they already have athletes, like Bismack,Thomas, and Maggette..MGK could be good slasher but that is what Henderson is there for too

Their guards are good for now with DJ/Kemba and Henderson.
Forward position need to get upgraded asap.

  • http://slamonline.com Datkid

None of these 3 players deserve such a horrible fate though.

  • Basketball iQ

they better take Barnes… he can create his own shot and his jumpshot wont be questionable. Now that everyone knows hes the same kind of athlete Kidd-gilchrist is after the measurements, hes better.
charlotte could be okay if they get some continuity drafting… they have a rif-raf group of players and only augustine & kemba can create for themselves, hardly for others… LOL. but a 2 and/or a 3 who can do the same would be a safe bet. If it still looks like poop next year,a true pg or a very good big would be the solution moving forward

  • Dungeon Family

The only bright side of whoever getting drafted is the Paycheck other than that…………Yeah you know

  • Shem

Are you kidding me? Charlotte will forever be bad. I can’t believe they aren’t jumping on MKG considering the fact that their small forwards are Jamario Moon, Najera and Corey Maggette.

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

Barnes will bust, honestly. He wasn’t spectacular at getting his own shot in college and he’ll really struggle with it in the L. Think Evan Turner with less ball handling. But yeah, the Bobcats are GUARANTEED to pick him. No doubt.

  • greg

evan turner isnt as athletic as barnes, or as good of a shooter, and he doesnt have that size like barnes. Barnes will be good if he has a pg or another great player to play off of who can prevent him from having to do anything creative.

  • Tyquez foster

Barnes is just a upgrade of Marvin Williams they need mike Kidd Gilchrist are beal

  • Ill Smith

Damn MJ just draft MKG & call it a day. Stop tryna think outside the box with the pick & just take the best player available.

  • Basketball iQ

    MKG=Corey Brewer …
RoyWilliams is a good motivator as a coach but mediocre when it comes to x’s & o’s … Barnes is NBA ready for any team right now. MKG will suffer over there.
Plus MJ hasnt taken one TarHeel in the draft yet… hes due.

  • World

Wow…that’s good 4 MKG, BUT MJ will soon regret this down the line, the Kidd is a gamer point blank period & most importantly he doesn’t shrink during The Moment..

  • http://www.slamonline.com Reds

The NBA screwed these guys over so bad f**k David Stern he’s a horrible human being.

  • http://www.google.com/news BETCATS

spit hot fiyah- Thomas Robinson is the logical pick. Which means we have a 50/50 shot of taking him or doing something absurd. Stay tuned.

  • http://blackamericaweb.com charliewinning

The Bobcats would be the worst thing to happen to MKG so I’m glad they aren’t considering him. That means he has a great shot at a successful career.

  • http://slamonline.com dma

TRob should be the logical #2, but it’s the bobcats and MJ so anything can happen. really.

  • TheWhiteMarkPrice

@basketball iq, Jordan drafted Raymond Felton and Sean May.

  • http://itsahardwoodlife.blogspot.com omphalos

After Barnes’ amazing numbers at the combine dispelled any concerns about his athleticism, I think MJ has to take him from a basketball and marketing perspective. Barnes already has a strong fan base in NC after playing for the Tar Heels, so he’d help fill the stadium and his jersey would be popular too. If the Bobcats revert to being the Hornets, I’d definitely by a Barnes jersey. From a basketball standpoint, Barnes has the highest offensive potential of those three players, has great size for his position, already has a skill that can be used in the NBA (his jumper), and along with Kemba Walker could be a great leader for this team as it rebuilds. Also, whoever said Kidd doesn’t shrink in the big moment (implying Barnes does), should remember the game-winners and clutch shots Barnes made over his college career, he certainly doesn’t struggle in big games.

Prior to reading the headline, I assumed Charlotte was considering drafting someone outside of the next 4 highest rated players. Good thing Slam cleared that up for me.

  • http://www.twitter.com/hurstysyd Hursty

If this was a meme, it’d go something like this:
    *Bobcats have second pick*
    *Jordan drafts Kendall Marshall*

  • R32

Charlotte needs toughness, and T-Rob fits the bill. Not a fan of college Harrison Barnes but his style should translate well in the NBA game.

  • RunNGun

Barnes will be the pick… no brainer. MKG should be #2 overall though.

  • http://www.twitter.com/_dfrance dfrance21

Co-Sign Caboose, Idk if I watched a different Barnes than you guys but I’m really not impressed and don’t think he’s worthy of a #2 selection. He’s average at best at creating his own shot, and he looks like a robot out there. When Marhsall got injured his numbers went in the toilet.

  • bcats!

Draft Drummond! He can fill an immediate need at the 5 and help stop so many drives to the basket. This was a huge problem last year not being able to keep teams from penetrating whenever they wanted. He’s got the highest ceiling out of any of these guys and with a good HC and great big man coach he and Biz will be an amazing duo.

  • http://slamonline.com YKnoT

Thomas Robinson is a 6’7 pf. All this talk about Barnes being overrated, what makes Robinson a better lock for the #2 pick?

  • onlytheflyest

Im glad they’re not drafting MGK , i would hate for him to suffer on the team. I hope the Cavs draft him.

  • dsleepy

    mkg wiz

  • jmiller

MKG plays the same game Henderson does. TRob is a 6’7″ PF; I would stay with Biz because his ceiling is higher. I think Barnes makes the most sense. Mags contract expires after this season which leaves a whole at the 3. Barnes also has more of an offensive game than anyone on the current roster. The Cats have young players at 1,2, and 4, and with the bust potential of Drummond why would MJ gamble on that? $hit… They will draft Drummond. SMH

  • Mr.Bobcat

Take Harrison Barnes. MGK will be Gerald Wallace at best and Charlotte just sent him packing. Thomas Robinson couldn’t beat out the Morris twins last year and they both had very little impact in the NBA last season. Harrison Barnes can put the ball in the basket plus he has ideal size and athleticism for the 3 spot. He will be the best player in this draft in the near future. If we’re luck his game will be similar to Paul Pierce.
