Landry Fields Had Right Elbow Surgery; Kyle Lowry Out Longer

The Toronto Raptors are the walking wounded, as guards Landry Fields and Kyle Lowry won’t be seeing the court anytime soon. From the CP: “Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry is expected to be sidelined for another one to two weeks after being diagnosed with a bruised cuboid bone in his right foot. […] Guard-forward Landry Fields underwent surgery on his ulnar nerve in his right elbow Wednesday in New York. Fields had been suffering from tenderness in his right hand. He will be reassessed in two weeks. And guard-forward Alan Anderson will be out as estimated three to six weeks with a partially torn plantar fascia in his left foot.”

why this guy isn’t in the D league… is the big question

  • Caboose

Cause he had one decent year with the Knicks’ hype machine and the Raptors are paying him too much to admit that one of their top offseason acquisitions doesn’t belong in the NBA.

    i agree 110% with this

  • bravo

damn get well everyone! Either way LETS GO RAPTORS! DeMar DeRozan keep doing what you do!

why on Earth did the Raptors sign Landry to that deal in the first place

    My poor Raptors

  • RKJ92

Worst part is we traded our draft pick to rockets and now its at okc and were tanking hard :(

  • Dagger

We traded it for Lowry. Who might be the best acquisition BC has made since taking over the Raptors. The kid has star potential and is getting paid just 6 mil/year. Have some patience; a week or two isn’t that long. At least Derozan is playing well, which shocks me.

    Because Raptors.

Bryan Colangelo needs to go, its been 5 yrs since hes had a winning record. Its not like the Raps have been in the western conference either, theres no excuse. His offseason moves r laughable and he has the two worst signings I can remember from any GM. Hedo and Landry. I mean Fields made me forget about Amir’s money. He whiffs nearly every draft pick he makes, although I like Acy. Not sayin the guys he picks r total scrubs, he just passes on studs. Drummond and JV would be nice assests to have right now.

    I dont like Bryan Colangelo.

He lives off of Jerry Colangelo and Steve Nash’s work and reputations.

yeah but you know the NBA… when they say 1 or 2 weeks they really mean at least a month… i wish though, Lowry brings a spirit to the game that the Rap’s havent had in the PG spot for a while

I completely agree! Colangelo has done far more bad than good during his tenure in Toronto. He inherited a team with Bosh entering his prime, the #1 overall pick, and infinite money to blow. 6 years later, Bosh left with nothing in return, Bargnani has been underwhelming to say the least, and that money was spent on Hedo’s inflated contract and extending Calderon and Bargnani to long and crippling contracts, and they haven’t made the playoffs in what, 5 years?
I don’t understand how a team can regress for 5 years straight without heads rolling.

Remember when the Raptors could have had LaMarcus Aldridge instead of Bargnani? Remember when the Raptors had Roy Hibbert and traded him for 1/2 a season of Jermaine O’Neal? Yeah, I remember those times too. My pillow is still wet from all the tears.

  • RKJ92

I’m not even knocking lowry in the least bit! I love the way he’s playing were just playing so bad though and the pick isn’t going to be ours :’(

  • L Dribble

At least he’ll be more productive this way…

He’s been at LEAST 400 times better than Rob Babcock, but I’m starting to see the end of the tunnel for Bryan Colangelo. He has tried to build the team around his man crush Andrea Bargnani, but at this point fans have no more patience for Andrea to become the superstar he was touted to be. He’s brought in great players that just didn’t give a flying fucc (Hedo, Jermaine, etc.) I still think he’s a good GM but he’s gotta move on Bargnani man; the guy’s contract and softness for a 7-foot, 250-pounder (at least) are astonishing. Last year he hired a great coach in Dwane Casey, and this summer he brought in arguably the best point guard Toronto’s ever had (simultaneously moving Jose to the bench where he’s extremely well suited.) The only question is who do you bring in to replace BC? Such a sad situation for a team with incredible potential to still be stuck in mediocrity.

In my opinion the Raptors have great pieces right now; we have one of the best point guards in the L, Kyle Lowry, but of course he needs to stay healthy. Jonas Valanciunas is gonna be a beast; I have NO doubt about it. DeMar is slowly becoming one of the best at his position. We have a terrific back-up PG Jose Calderon who comes to play every night. Terrence Ross is intriguing so he’s definitely worth keeping. So what’s the problem? Injuries never help obviously but also the fact that Amir Johnson is stealing valuable minutes from Ed Davis isn’t helping IMO. Landry Fields was an ABSOLUTELY RETARDED signing considering the Raptors had virtually the same player for much much less in James Johnson, AND he was entering a contract year. One more thing: Andrea Bargnani needs to go NOW!
