Anderson Varejao Developed a Blood Clot, Will Miss Remainder of Season

Sad news for Cavs big man Anderson Varejao—after undergoing leg surgery, he developed a blood clot in his lung and will be forced to sit out the remainder of the season. Via NBA.com: “Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao recently developed a blood clot (small right lower lung pulmonary embolism) and was admitted to the Cleveland Clinic last Thursday (January 17th). He is being treated with blood thinners (anticoagulants) and is expected to stay at the Clinic for several days, while undergoing treatment and observation. He will need to remain on blood thinning medication for approximately three months. While Varejao is expected to fully recover, he will miss the remainder of the current Cavaliers season.”

Cavs should’ve traded him while his value was sky high! But man, hope he gets well soon though. Dude was having an amazing season.

wow, how sad, during his best season yet. and blood clot always makes me think of some mid 90′s wu-tang lyrics

Wow. If he stays healthy this season and keep producing the numbers he has now, he will be a strong candidate for MIP. And now there’s a problem with his lung (!?). This is very sad.

there’s nothing more to say than you feel sorry for the guy

The first thing you say regarding another man’s health is “should’ve traded him while his value was sky high?” Let’s be a little more human, ffs.

Just when you are playing one hell of a season.. This happens. The irony of life.

Varejao was a name in the list of the Wolves Front Office. Now he gets out for the season. Even the Hawks mascot got injured in yesterday’s game, and Ricky commented ‘it seems that everyone around the Timberwolves gets injured’. I hope Varejao gets better soon

at least he got paid properly so far

Blood clots are no joke, especially around the lungs because of where they can embolise to (heart, brain etc). Speedy recovery big man. I guess it’s time for Tristan Thompson to prove he was worthy of that no.4 pick.

    Its true though.

even a little too much back then. but he (for me) suprisingly lived up to his contract and played even worthy of a bigger one this season. wild thing is really a loss for this season…. and my fantasy team lol
