New Orleans Hornets Reportedly Still Open to Trading Eric Gordon

The Eric Gordon Experience hasn’t exactly worked out very well so far in New Orleans. It’s not too surprising, given he never really wanted to be there in the first place. According to the Times-Picayune, Gordon will likely be part of trade discussions once again this summer: “In three seasons, New Orleans Hornets Coach Monty Williams has never verbally lashed out at one of his players in front of fans during a game. But in a heat of the moment situation Friday night at EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City against the Utah Jazz, Williams apparently got into a shouting match with starting shooting guard Eric Gordon during a timeout with 8:47 remaining in the third quarter. The blowup came after a stretch when Gordon committed turnovers on two of the Hornets’ four possessions in the quarter and didn’t appear to hustle back in transition defensively on a possession that ended with forward Paul Millsap scoring on a layup after Anthony Davis blocked Randy Foye’s shot attempt. After Williams hastily called a timeout with his team trailing the Jazz 57-49, he shouted in Gordon’s direction. NBA.com reported that Williams had to be held back by assistant coach Randy Ayers after Gordon hollered back at him when the team went to the bench. [...] Gordon sat at the end of the bench, but appeared engaged during timeouts. But after the game, Gordon appeared to be puzzled about getting benched. He also made no mention of the shouting match. He finished with seven points on two-of-three shooting, playing just more than 17 minutes. It was the Hornets’ eighth consecutive loss on the road. ‘There was nothing wrong physically, it was just his decision to take me out of the game,’ said Gordon, who remains on strict restrictions by team doctors to not play in the second game of back-to-back sets. ‘I thought we were (in a good flow). You always make adjustments throughout the game. We’re down at halftime by two points, and two or three possessions (in the third quarter), I’m out of there. I’d love to figure (it) out. You always want to do what’s best for the team. Since he took me out, he took me out. I definitely wanted to be out there for sure.’ [...] The Hornets were unable to pull off a trade involving Gordon before the February trade deadline, but the franchise is still likely to remain open to trading him after this season ends, according to sources Saturday.”

Trade him to Toronto or Orlando, no rewards to a good team for biiatch like behavior.

Gordon pouted his way through this whole season. i don’t understand why anyone thought this would work. he really really really doesn’t want to be there, and is only there because the rules FORCED him to be.

I see the upside. But he gets severely injured too much to be kept and have a team depend on him.

    I’d say let him go

    PHX OR BUST

well you can’t really let him go. It’s keep him or trade him. He has a massive contract. So more likely it’s keep him or trade him for less than he is worth.

  • JML-G

Gay + Gordon would equal a good team

  • spit hot fiyah

he also pretty much knew that they would match any offer. if he really hates it there he could have just taken the qualifying offer and then went wherever he wanted to this summer.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    why did he “know” that?
    .
you realize New Orleans attempted to work out a Sign and Trade with Phoenix right? Phoenix just didn’t have anything worth Eric Gordon to offer.

  • Caboose

I’d love to see him traded for Jonas and Bargs, just so the Raptors would start Gordon, Ross, DeRozan, and Gay. They might suck, but it would be the most entertaining team ever.

  • http://twitter.com/thursti_tyht Thurstian Tsui

Please don’t put that in their heads

  • http://twitter.com/thursti_tyht Thurstian Tsui

There’s no reason a guard stacked team like Toronto should trade for another injury prone undersized shooting guard.

  • spit hot fiyah

i didn’t know they were working in a sign and trade. having said that, it felt like every report said that NO would match any offer for him.
if we assume that he didn’t know, he must have at least known that it was a strong possibility and that the consequence would be that he would be in NO for next few years.
i know that financially it would be stupid to sign the QOffer so i’m notdissagreeing with u, but is it worth being in a place u hate being in?
at least act like a pro and don’t try to pout your way out of Town, that’s all i’m saying.

  • Kris

    ok there…

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    oh i see the miscommunication.
    .
this is my fault. — they were definitely matching any offer. but there was no guarantee they would be matching it to actually keep him. but that they would match so they didn’t lose him for nothing.
    .
    my bad.

1.) Let Mason, Henry, Aminu, Thomas, Harris, and Amundson walk in free agency.
2.) Trade a 100% healthy Eric Gordon to Philly for Thaddeus Young. Young starts SF.
3.) Trade Robin Lopez to Boston for Jason Terry and Fab Melo if they’ll part with him.
4.) Sign Al Jefferson to a 4 year contract in free agency.
5.) Draft best available player who isn’t a big.
These moves are all feasible and make the Pelicans instant contenders.

    L-O-L
Nobody wants Bargnani with that contract and limited skillset. I’m sorry Toronto fans, it just aint happenin for ya.

  • Redd

    You been defeated. :|

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    lol

  • GSW Fan

Eric Gordan for Klay Thompson and Richard Jefferson. Everyone wins

  • RKJ92

I’d rather have Klay Thompson.. More potential, and he’s already a good SG

  • RKJ92

No thanks. I’d rather watch Primo Pasta Bargnani commercials then trade Valaciunas for Eric Gordon, like just straight up no… lol

  • RKJ92

I don’t think “Toronto fans” are too worried.. DeRozan, and Ross are fine with me (Y)

  • RKJ92

Wtf? we wouldn’t want that anyways.. :S Jonas Valaciunas given time will most likely be a much better player than Eric Gordon anyways..

  • Caboose

Vasquez, Terry, Young, Davis, Jefferson is NOWHERE NEAR a contender.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

the salaries make that pretty unrealistic…

  • Caboose

    Lol what?

    Bargs: $10.00 mil
    Jonas: $3.37 mil
    for
    Gordon: $13.67 mil

That’s like the closest matchup imaginable.

  • nhm

i liked this guy…until he mailed it in. damn, he could at least try to make it work, he’s on a team with players with great potential.. he could at least show some leadership or something.. he’s being paid MILLIONS.. he could at least be grateful and pretend to be happy at work.

  • roscoe

b4 everyone stores this in their minds as the current owner or mgmt’s “BAD DECISION”…

remember it was David Stern who orchestrated this mess and did not allow NOLA GM room.

  • spit hot fiyah

    Fatality! (mortal combat voice) lol

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

I was saying this with the next couple of years in mind thinking Bargnani has one more year left…then I checked and saw that they have him signed through 14/15….now I just feel bad for the Raptors

  • VC

Trade him to Denver for Gallinari. The nuggets could use a shooter like Gordon and the Hornets need a good SF. It works for both sides.

  • Redd

nbk is speechless, guess you got the crown!

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    you guys are funny

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

lol that would make New Orleans the worst franchise in the history of franchises.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

haha you can’t give golden state a roster full of injury phrone players

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

    exactly.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

    i would def trade him

  • Lauren Frank

If you think Randall`s story is unbelievable,, two weeks ago my friends cousin basically also brought home $9689 working a thirteen hour week from home and the‘re friends mom`s neighbour done this for 6 months and actually earnt more than $9689 in their spare time from a mac. apply the guide on this site., Big31.com

  • Redd

    LOL someone thumbed you down..wtf.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

ha, all my comments get downvoted. i got quite a few people who just don’t like any of my comments lol

  • GSW Fan

its working so far this year

  • http://twitter.com/NYCKING BIG ED

if Hornets want to trade him why even bother matching Suns offer from last summer then?

  • Redd

Idk why you have the most knowledge basketball wise (well 2nd now).

  • https://twitter.com/jasontichenor Mr. Wet

Him being injured most of the year is the exact reason a guy would take the max knowing he might be a crappy location. He takes that qualifying offer. Then goes through a year like this. He’s most likely not getting the Max from anyone.

  • http://twitter.com/thursti_tyht Thurstian Tsui

    Exactly.

  • http://twitter.com/thursti_tyht Thurstian Tsui

Lets conveniently ignore the fact that Gallinari is a good shooter and more consistent than Gordon.

  • RKJ92

lol yaaaaa… it actually makes me nautious to look at.. thx for the support :(

  • spit hot fiyah

i know, that’s why i said it was the right move by him to sign the longer deal. but then , be a pro and live the consequences and don’t be al negative.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

you’d really give up klay thom for EG?

  • GSW Fan

he had a good night last night, but he is a bonehead sometimes. I’d like to see klay develop a little more, but seeing in the playoffs and next season before the deadline I will know for sure

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

    fair enough
