Back in 2009, LeBron James wanted the NBA to retire the jersey number 23 out of respect for Michael Jordan. The idea never gained any traction, and LeBron will once again have 23 on his chest and back next season. MJ sees nothing wrong with the switch:
“I’m cool with it,” Jordan told ESPN.com via text message Monday morning. “I don’t own a number.”
James did not contact Jordan before deciding to return to No 23. James announced his number choice on his Instagram account Sunday, also sharing the link on his Twitter account.
