Raps Make Offer to Delfino

After a season abroad, there is a chance Delfino could return (from Russia) to the Raptors: “The Raptors extended a qualifying offer to restricted free agent forward Carlos Delfino yesterday.”

cool…now get Garbo back and we can reset the clock 2 years!

in my country, vodka drinks you

  • Canuck

Maybe with this ginormous signing we’ll rise to the upper mediocrity level once again.

I liked delfino when he played for the raps. I think this is a good move. Although if they can draft either Demar or Tyreke it would be an even better move.

craptors need a lot more then Delfino to get outta lottery land.

Delfino’s attempt at becoming the player he was touted to be while returning to Europe was an utter failure. 10-3-2 with less than one steal for Moscow in 23 minutes, and a slightly better 13-3.5-2.6 in 28 minutes for the Eurocop. Highly underwhelming, considering Spanny boldly declared this guy to be in the top-5 small forwards in the world (and never addressed it again after I called him out on it both immediately afterwards and many times later).
Raptors figure they can snatch him back since his role in Moscow certainly was not what it was cracked up to be.

why are they wasting money on these kind of players when what they need is a backup center?

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

I don’t know why you’d take him back. They have the wrong Argie trying to play like Manu. He’s not skilled enough for the dribble drives he insists on taking.

  • http://slamonline blaze

they should offer huge contract to dan dickau.

  • Franko

I like the “They have the wrong Argie” part.
Delfino is a great player. MANU is ONE of the best players in NBA.

  • di3go

i am from argetina, and i think that delfino is better than manu

  • Flight

Delfino is crazy inconsistent. To even mention him with Manu is crazy. Being a Raptor fan his game was frustrating to watch.

    @Anton 2nd comment…i laughed so F****NG hard.

Small steps, my fellow Raptor fans…small steps. Colangelo will pick up a draft stud and we’ll be back on track. Hope is back in Hogtown!

problem with toronto is every promising guy they get outta draft never stays long enough to build around. Stoudamire, Camby, Bosh, etc.

  • whiteowl

camby was traded…and just because none of these “athletes” have the balls to stay in canada is not the problem with toronto. not one “All Star” can withstand the pressure of supporting a COUNTRY. unlike the other teams which center around cities, the toronto raptors are canadas team. with the management of bc and giardino we could have an excellent group of players both hve lots of experience putting together winning teams. So bosh would be smart to stay with tdot not only the money but the legacy of being the all star to bring canadas team to the finals and capture that trophy.

i dunno maybe its the herb

  • Teddy-the-Bear

^^ LOL who says there’s anything wrong with Toronto? Toronto is a GREAT city. For some reason ignorant people (not you) think Toronto is bad or small because its in Canada. Toronto is one of the best cities that has an NBA team.

@ Quail: to be in the position to get a backup centre, isnt one supposed to own a starting centre first?

  • http://www.fanballers.com so fresh n so clean

FYI. Camby was moved to New York for Charles Oakley…a hard-nosed vet that the RAps needed..he didn’t just jump ship. Also, Delfino is a streaky player but he did a good job playing as a backup PG/SG, and if the Raps draft DeRozan, Evans or Henderson, they might be in better shape than assumed. I’m not saying they are going to be contenders, but what Delfino brings (ball handling, decent perimeter D) is what the Raps lacked last year.

Apparently Delfino wanted 5 mil a year but only was offered 4 by Raps.

Thinks really highly of himself must be.
