D-Wade Doing Damage Control

The Heat’s superstar attempts to calm the nerves of all Floridians: “Wade reiterated Thursday that no rift exists between the two, but he also said he did not agree with Riley’s decision to hold off on any major roster upgrades until Wade commits to a long-term extension. ‘Coach Riley opened up the wound when he said, ‘Until Dwyane signs back, we can’t do anything,” Wade said Thursday during a charity golf tournament as part of The Summer Groove events he is co-sponsoring with Alonzo Mourning. ‘But me and Pat Riley are not against each other. We both want the same thing. We’re just in two different positions.”’

That’s redonculous. Lebron and Bosh are on the boat but their teams have busy in the offseason.

  • riggs Posted: Jul.10 at 10:42 am
welcome to new york dwyane wade

  • niQ Posted: Jul.10 at 10:43 am
    have *been busy.

  • Hisham Posted: Jul.10 at 10:49 am
Wade is right. What is Riley trying to do here?

  • Eboy Posted: Jul.10 at 10:53 am
If you hear about Dwyane having a broken jaw after Sunday’s charity game………don’t assume it was me.

  • niQ Posted: Jul.10 at 11:00 am
They should make a run at boozer

  • Zach Posted: Jul.10 at 11:14 am
Wade needs to carry his team for one more season. and wait till 2010 and sign with the Chicago Bulls. he be signing for a championship basically

  • Brad Long Posted: Jul.10 at 11:26 am
Yeah, niQ, that is exactly what they need. A undersized injury prone forward who only performs when his contract is about to expire.

  • Jeff Fox Posted: Jul.10 at 11:29 am
Boo hoo – poor wittle Dwyane had his feelings hurt. It’s true they can’t make many moves unless they know if Wade is going to stick around and how much $$ he is going to eat out of the salary cap.

  • Zach Posted: Jul.10 at 11:34 am
Jeff: your acting like D Wade don’t earn his money?? Wade should have gotten MVP, but LBJ just has a better team. He led LBJ in all the stats but rebounds. Wade needs out of Miami

  • Allenp Posted: Jul.10 at 12:10 pm
If Cleveland and Toronto can make moves, than Miami can make moves.
Pat Riley is trying to pressure Wade into signing a deal. Eff that.
Wade knows he has the leverage. He might have to eat a few million if he doesn’t re-sign with Miami, but that’s better than getting punked by Riley. At least it would be for me.

  • Eboy Posted: Jul.10 at 12:18 pm
Eating a few million is actually equivalant to 30 million, if that matters.

  • niQ Posted: Jul.10 at 1:53 pm
For the record.. I didn’t post the Boozer comment..

  • M Cho Posted: Jul.10 at 2:39 pm
Cut Dwade some slack. He’s a proven winner who goes hard every night. All he’s asking for is a little help, just like any superstar stuck on a crap team. Riley is the one playing hardball with no leverage here, and he’s making a mistake.

  • Anton Posted: Jul.10 at 2:41 pm
Is his divorce settled yet? Goddamn his ex-wife is ugly.

  • Allenp Posted: Jul.10 at 3:08 pm
    Eboy
$30 million for real? Damn, those raises are a beast.
Well, I might reconsider then, but he’s going to get $100 million either way, so he might as well go somewhere where he won’t have to kill himself and the GM isn’t shady.

  • Spaceship Jay Posted: Jul.10 at 3:21 pm
Welcome to New York Wade. And Bosh. And Nash. Wade is a beast, to understate what he did last season is to say that you only know basketball on an “I play NBA Streets for PS2″ type of level.

    NEW YORK, NEW YOOOORRRRKKKK!!!!!!

  • Eboy Posted: Jul.10 at 4:20 pm
Allen, I agree to a point……going to NYC is no picnic….ever…..and the Chi is going to be a huge determining factor in where he plays in 2010…but are the Bulls really title contenders with Wade and D. Rose and not too much else?

  • BullySixChicago Posted: Jul.10 at 4:32 pm
    eboy
apparently you think Wade is from ft. pierce you try to hit him in the jaw and his chicago attitude will come out. Wade in NY keep dreaming Knick fans we already helped you with the Eddy Curry deal what more do you want from chicago. LOL

  • BullySixChicago Posted: Jul.10 at 4:36 pm
Wade is right why sign a long term contract and riley and the owner decides to say lets save money, all riley has to do is get some talent there gthat gives the heat a chance to contend for teh title and I believe that Wade will stay, being a Bulls fan I say Riley do me right dont do nothing

  • BullySixChicago Posted: Jul.10 at 4:39 pm
    eboy
Wade and Rose would not be the only players the Bulls will have as much as we want wade we are after Bosh as well. will have enough money for both? Who cares I am sure jerry reinsdorf will spend to ge both and having to pay the cap issues is no bog deal teams that win titles are usually over the cap

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jul.10 at 8:58 pm
LOL! Pat is one tricky cat.

  • Zach Posted: Jul.10 at 9:45 pm
    Eboy
How dare you say that it would only be Rose/Wade. Deng was hurt all last year and it is a all star player when he wants to be, same with Salmons. The Bulls post presence is shady though. Add D Wade to the Bulls and they take the East by storm

  • Zach Posted: Jul.10 at 9:48 pm
    Hey NY fans!!!
Why the concern about Wade?? NY wants LBJ and LBJ would love to play in NY? And there is no chance in hell that D Wade would play for a team like NY :)

  • Tom Posted: Jul.10 at 10:12 pm
stale mate. Wade wont sign unless they get better players around him, the team wont go after better players till he signs lol. i hope he goes to Chi Town, that would be sick.

  • La Maravilla Posted: Jul.11 at 12:08 am
Hopefully he wait till Riley get some people cause if not is going to be the same history… he going to be the team go some where else D-Wade u to good to be on a team like that bro

  • flash Posted: Jul.11 at 12:09 pm
just trade beasley for stat already, dwade aint gonna wait for beasley to blossom. wade wants to win now, having stat by his side would give him a made player. and riles dwade aint getting younger

WADE IS GOING NOWHERE!!! Look at what Miami achieved this year with the team they had. They made the Playoffs when even most of it’s fans didn’t think that was possible. Sure it was on the back of Wade, but he said it himself that’s how he likes it. He WANTS to carry the team. Now he just wants his team to be more competitive. This is possible, and this is how I see Miami’s 09′-10′… It will be a season where the entire roster will be assessed on which players will fit in with Wade’s wishes. Who will be kept on, who will be traded, and who will be cut. O’Neal is has been to Playoffs, has been on the USA squad, and an All-Star. He’s also only 31 so if he remains healthy he can be trade bait, or play off the bench for the Heat. Beasley and Chalmers now with a year under their belt will only get better (especially learning what Playoffs is about too), and Wade will tell them what he expects from them in the upcoming season during training camp. So they can also be trade bait or if they impress Wade, they can stick around. Cook is in the same boat as Beasley and Chalmers. Young, improving, experienced Playoffs, and also current 3 point contest champ, with a higher confidence. Trade bait or to be kept for a role. Haslem I find is underrated for his work ethic and effort. Trade bait for someone like Bosh next year. You’ll see that Riley will continue talking with Wade during the upcoming season and by mid-way through the season they will come to terms with who Wade would want Riley to try bring into Miami to help him get more rings. I just don’t see Wade leaving. Riley is just asking for assurance from Wade so the rebuilding may commence. Wade will get the money and the pieces he wants. Miami can’t afford to lose such a player at the moment. And to be honest… I don’t see anything wrong with a Starting Five of O’Neal (a healthy one), Haslem, Beasley, Wade, Chalmers, and have Cook and Diawara off the bench for a start to the 09-10 season to get the ball rolling for who’ll get traded to give Wade what he wishes.
