Rick Kamla is Sorry
The NBA TV analyst used a racially insensitive term as he narrated highlights of the New Jersey Nets, and offered the requisite apology afterwards: “In his NBA.com video recap of last Friday’s Magic-Nets game, NBA TV analyst Rick Kamla made the unfortunate mistake of referring to New Jersey forward Yi Jianlian as a ‘Chinaman.’ Turner Sports spokesman Jeff Pomeroy said Kamla was not aware of the connotations of the word, and meant nothing malicious or offensive by it.”

I missed this. I like Kamla, but he effed up here. Sometimes he’s trying a little to hard. He reminds me of one of those guys selling you stuff on infomercials.
At least that’s what I gathered from all the comments along the lines of “Well, that’s what he is!”
Some folks just prefer being blind.
btw, where’s AlbertBarr’s quote from?
all the dude wanted was his carpet
I noticed it the other day when I was watching the highlights of the Nets game, and I just thought “What?” Although I am pretty sure Kamla is not a racist, that was not right and its good that he apologized for it.
@ CDUB: You’re a freaking idiot if you think its understated that he apologize. The word “Ch*naman” has historical connotations that are the same as calling a black man “n*gro.” But you’re just an ignorant, blabbering idiot who doesn’t know how to use sarcasm without making yourself look like an ignorant, blabbering idiot.
Maybe you should go back to history class, jack@ss.
@ albie: How can you not have known? Guys like you need to shut up and stop acting like it’s okay, when its not. I’m not that offended by Kamla’s remarks because I’m pretty sure he didn’t mean them but the way you’re going about it is completely wrong.
