Timberwolves, Suns After David Lee

Lee’s agent tells the Star Tribune and Arizona Republic that talks are progressing nicely between David and both teams: “Agent Mark Bartelstein says he has been talking to Wolves boss David Kahn frequently and said the Wolves have the ability to make salary-cap moves and could sign his client David Lee before all the bigger dominoes tumble in this NBA free-agency game. Bartelstein followed what Lee said himself Saturday night at the airport after his nine-hour visit to Minnesota and called Lee’s trip a ‘great visit.’ ‘They’ve got some ability to make some moves quickly so they’d have the ability to sign David,’ Bartelstein said from his Chicago office. ‘They have a lot of interest. Yes, I’ve been talking to David (Kahn) quite a bit. We’re sorting through a bunch of stuff. Hopefully we’ll have a decision in the near future.’ The Wolves either would have to work a sign-and-trade involving Al Jefferson with New York through a third team — Knicks won’t take Al straight up now that they’ve agreed to terms with Amare Stoudemire, if they ever would have — or trade Jefferson’s $13 million contract for a non-guaranteed contract such as Dallas’ Erick Dampier.”

    Slam online stays gettin scooped.

For news just go to espn, you’ll get it a full year before slam gets around to finding out about it.

  • Clay

The Knicks could have a nice sign-and-trade if any teams are willing to do that for David Lee. They still need a point guard; NY should at least take a stab at Chris Paul with Eddy Curry’s expiring contract and some other pieces if they have any New Orleans is interested in. Probably won’t happen, but why not try?

Jesus, please don’t go to the Timberwolves, it would mean another 4 man playing the 5.
I’d like to see him in PHX. I liked seeing him bring the ball up on the break for the Knicks last year. He’s got a very good handle for a 6’10 guy.

@Jumper…same with DimeMag.com they get news lightyears before slam

Does David Lee want to be an NBA Purgatory for the rest of his career.
Needs to go to PHX and have a better chance to win a championship

don’t do that men. but if you sign and trade lee. i wish this could happen to new orleans. cp3. for david lee. then sgn and trade also josh smith for al harington.

Ha, PHX is the geriatric team in the league. Aging, fading stars such as Nash, Grant, etc. No future there, just the past.

  • kh

I’d love to see him in a Suns uniform

  • The Duke

If we go to Phoenix, they will have a great team.

  • C-Lo_The_Great

hope this happens and nyk get rubio out of it

would be a perfect replacement for STAT.

  • http://twincityslim@yahoo.com Jahi

The Knicks should make a play Rajon Rondo, with Chris Paul and Tony Parkers as backup plans. Rondo is the most underrated player in the NBA, and the Boston organization has never given him much credit. Trust me, Rondo would be a real asset with the Knicks.

@Clay: the knicks already tried that with the hornets, lets just say the hornets didnt bite.

  • nicko

@jahi….Rondo the most underrated? Did you not watch the playoffs, when all they talked about was Rondo and how it was the “big 4″ now. He got the most airtime.

@jahi… and how do you suggest the knicks acquire rondo?

Minnesota….where power forwards career go to die *See Kevin Garnett, Al Jefferson.

Hmmm… After getting ‘rid’ of Amar’e I would like to see the Suns get someone a little more rugged on defense. Just to shore up that PF position, someone to help out with Lopez. Let Leandro Barbosa back in to his 6th man/19ppg role and kick this team into 5th gear. :)

  • Shem

    Lee and Lopez is interesting

  • http://banksitin.blogspot.com/ vmcb

for the love of god, go to the suns!

  • DMC14

i am sad to see stat go but Lee would do the things that stat was always critisesed for being lazy at. I think i would prefer al Jefferson in a suns uni. they would both be good additions to the suns.

At Hedo for a geriatric team they faster and fitter then a lot of teams.

  • DMC14

and Grant deserves more respect than that.
That being said i’ve said for the last two seaons they shoulda traded Nash before they get nothing for him. (not dissing i’m just not a huge fan of the guy for some reason i think it has something to do with when he was at Dallas).

I really hope he lands in Phoenix. It’d be a nice replacement for Stoudemire, seeing as he’s a better rebounder and defender. He’s not as explosive, but I feel he’s just as capable offensively.

  • hushabomb

If Lee and Lopez have to fight for rebounds that’s a good thing! Please Dave, go to PHX and you gonna be in the playoffs for the rest of yo career! If STAT isn’t appreciative of what Nash gives out nightly and has gone to NY, well I guess you’ll need to go and enjoy a pass 1st pg, veteran players to learn from, less pressure to be the Main Man. You gonna be a winner in PHX. Get there now while the going (and money) is good

  • johnny c

cosign dacre. lee to the suns makes so much sense, and barbosa should be getting way more minutes than he gets now

  • ab_40

Lee to phoenix is an a lot better move than to minnesota they have very good players on the 4 like K love and zach randolph junior and I don’t see him fitting in there at all.

  • http://www.nba.com/sun Dacre

I’ve liked the idea of Al Jefferson to the Suns for a while – I just don’t think the T-Wolves would let him go on the cheap though… Lee in a Suns uni would be nice – there’s a team that has had two players win dunk comps with between the leg moves… D.Lee in highschool mcdonalds dunk comp and of course J Rich in NBA – David Lee/Amundson would be the sweetest, whitiest and bitiest PF combo out there… what with the hustle and the scrap. They could BOTH get raggidy pony tales and some tats!
For the record, I’m saying LBJ heads to New Jersey.
If Hakim Warrick and Earl Clark could put on some serious bulk/more muscle that would put them in a WHOLE lot better position for activity this season….can you believe it? THe Suns are LOADED at PF this season….
    L. Amundson
    C. Frye
    H. Warrick
(the 2 incoming rookies are PFs)
Earl Clark could split time here too….
    Amar’e who???
Nash has every chance to get deep into the playoffs again this year. ^_^
