Carlos Boozer to Make Season Debut This Week?

The word out of Chicago is that Boozer is just about ready to see action for the first time this season. From the Sun-Times: “Officially, the Bulls say they are unsure when Carlos Boozer will be ready to play in a game. But after listening to Boozer and coach Tom Thibodeau talk following the power forward’s first full-contact practice Monday, there’s little doubt Boozer will be in the starting lineup Wednesday when the Bulls host the Orlando Magic at the United Center. The only thing that could derail those plans is if Boozer suffers unusual pain or soreness in his hand and/or wrist after the workouts. ‘I thought I had a pretty good day of practice, my hand felt good and it’s getting better and better,’ Boozer said. ‘That’s all I can hope for. ‘A couple of times it got hit, which is good to find out how it felt after getting hit. [It was] a little sore, but overall I thought it was a good day.’ Rustiness is something to be expected for a player who hasn’t practiced since the beginning of October, but Boozer was pleased with his level of sharpness.”

Let’s hope he doesn’t decide to whack off with that hand.

@Zabba, LOL. I’m so excited for a Rose/Boozer/Noah bulls team, but I’m also a little afraid he gets injured again.

Trade Boozer to Heat for Bosh and call it a day. While the Heat are down on Bosh, because Bosh is a better fit on the Bulls than Boozer to me. BOOK IT!!

It’ll be great to have Boozer in the lineup! Rose’s amazing scoring numbers this year will go down some, I expect him to average around 22 a game at season’s end, but he couldn’t care less as long as they’re winning. I would keep Boozer’s minutes to about 25 – 30 a night at first. Although it’ll be tempting to have Boozer play extensively against the Magic, who have given the Bulls fits over the year.

…and I just read Boozer is sore today after practicing tomorrow so Wednesday is a no go. He hopes to return by this weekend.

naw The Seed, Booze is better with the Bulls. The bulls have no low post scoring presence, and the only reason they signed booze was to fill that void and give them a legit scoring option with Rose off the floor.

Booze is a really consistent player. If he can stay healthy, the bulls will make a lot of noise in the east. No joke, with their already decent bench, and the addition of Boozer, bulls looking like a real nice team.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about how his return will affect team play. Offensively, we’ll get better. And chemistry shouldn’t be an issue because everyone already gets along great off the court, Boozer and the rest will just have to learn to play together on the court, which will be no problem for Korver and Brewer, obviously. But how much will we lose defensively? I mean, it’s great to have Noah and Gibson in there, two shot blockers who take pride in their defense. Boozer has never averaged over a block a game in his career and it’s widely known he’s a weak defender. In all honestly, I wasn’t a big fan of Boozer before he signed with the Bulls, I mean, I know he’s one of the top low-post scorers in the L, but the combination of him always being injured and his lack of loyalty towards his previous teams made me dislike dude. But it’s kind of one of those “well, he’s on my team now so I’ma ride with dude” type of things. Plus, his low post scoring and rebounding will help, and he was a lot cheaper than Stoudemire. My main concern is long-term, financially. In 2012-2013, the last year of Rose’s rookie contract, Boozer, Deng and Noah alone will make about $40 million combined. We can assume the Bulls will wanna give Rose a max contract, but Boozer will still have two more years and Deng will still have one more year on their contracts, so it’s a safe bet one of those two will have to go by then.

Does Boozer make it through the rest of the season without loosing another significant chunck of time due to injury?
