LeBron James Offended the Nets With Contraction Talk

That big meanie LeBron. He hurt the feelings of a few New Jersey Nets employees by talking about something he (supposedly) didn’t even know the meaning of. Heady times we live in, friends. From the NY Daily News: “That an NBA player wouldn’t know the dreaded C-word – which would result in lost jobs on several levels across the league – was a surprise to Nets guard Devin Harris, who was singled out by James as a player who could help the NBA by playing elsewhere. Like most union members, Harris said he’s against contraction. The league is reportedly pushing contraction in its collective bargaining negotiations. ‘For him to talk about us specifically, it was a little offensive,’ Harris said yesterday. ‘But from a business standpoint, to know what’s best – we’re still trying to figure this out. But I think he’s of the mind-set of, ‘Oh, let’s team up everybody as stars and kind of duke it out, which, it kind of was like that in previous eras. But who is to say what’s best for the league now?’ Harris’ response was less confrontational than what Avery Johnson dished out. When asked Sunday about James’ statements on contraction, the Nets coach took a shot at James’ team, the Miami Heat, by saying, ‘I disagree. Maybe the league would be better off without three stars on one team.’”

Lebron should have stayed quite about contraction but you know what I think Lebron is embracing the role of the nba’s villian. I have nothing to say about Avery Johnsons comment though.

I’m saying, if the Nets are that insulted, why don’t they take it out on the Heat on the court? Oh, cause they’d just get their asses kicked again, that’s why.

  • Fat Lever

They need to put a Hannibal Lecter muzzle on this dude as soon as the game is over. Keep it on until he steps on the court for his next game. He could even work this into his powder clapping ritual. Roll him in on a gurney strapped up, then unstrap him, and let him do his powder clapping. I bet Maverick Carter is dumb enough to believe this is a good idea.

I am a huge Lebron since his rookie year, but he needs to S.T.F.U. after games. He keeps saying ridiculous sh!t night in night out. Take some of Bosh’s quietness away from him. Fat Lever posted an amazing idea ahead of me. But seriously, MORE PLAY LEST TALK

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Bosh is quiet? Hell f*cking no. He’s had way more foot in his mouth moments than LeBron. LeBron’s are just more publicized.

That’s not the only offense the Nets take. They allow 105ppg

  • pache

    hahahhhaa wooo avery sick burn

  • tavoris

How are they offended, when the idiot didn’t even know what contraction meant?

@Fat Lever, I think you’re too dumb to realize that this is a brilliant idea. =) In fact, Stern needs to mandate that LBJ toss in some Sith colored contact lenses.

  • Just Sayin’

In the sense that the NBA is now half show business and half basketball the way Vince Carter is now half amazing, no publicity is bad publicity, and Maverick Carter knows this.
And Lebron James isn’t that stupid, he just thinks that we are, if he wants us to believe using the definition of a word is different from using the word. He spelled out nixing the worst teams to build super teams, he doesn’t have to know what the word means.

  • JD

There acting like if contraction happened a bunch of players wouldn’t have anywhere to go, but there’s a ton of options, the D-League,the Euroleague,China, and all the other leagues in America. So all in all, i reckon this move would help raise the level of ball everywhere. You can get a prety decent living off most of those leagues

@EBoy–I agree, and him embracing that role to the fullest, on every single night, is what will make your squad SCARY. You see it on some nights, more often now than earlier, but not every single game. We, the haters, hope it doesn’t get to that point.

  • http://slamonline.com tealish

@fellow Heat-haters–best strategy to employ, is indifference. Don’t cheer, don’t boo. Don’t even come to games. Real talk.

Lebron Jame s- the Sarah Palin of the NBA.

  • http://theurbangriot.com The Nupe

LeBron’s been in the league long enough to know better. If I was on the Nets or for that matter any other team in the League I’d be pissed too. @TW: Sarah Palin of the NBA is spot on.

  • Mr. Wet

Are we seriously still talking about this crap. Quit Tiger Woods’n everything Lebron does these days.

  • http://itsahardwoodlife.blogspot.com omphalos

Love how they chuck in the Avery Johnson burn at the end. He certainly doesn’t mince words.

  • MikeC.

Imagine if Lebron had signed with the Nyets and said all this dumb ish. The NY media would have ruined his life. I’m a little surpised by the lack of venom being spit by the NY media. They haven’t been too hard on Lebron.

  • http://sdfjklfl.com Jukai

Wow, no one caught MARTEY’s genius zing? That made me laugh for a while.
If the stars want all those mint contracts, than contraction is the only thing that makes sense. The union is fighting a downward battle.

  • http://twitter.com/BeezKneezy LA Huey

@MikeC, NY media was taking shots at Bron before he came to the Garden this year. Then he came all over them. “You come at The King, you best not miss”

  • Bryan

“That big meanie Lebron”? Whoever writes these articles really loves riding Lebron’s jock. Let’s just call a spade a spade and make it okay for someone to be called out for idiotic comments. Or are we really supposed to believe (even as uneducated as he is) that he doesn’t know what contraction means?

I don’t openly advocate laying off co-workers at my place of employment, regardless of my true feelings. That would be ridiculous. It becomes more and more obvious this guy lives in a bubble with every passing press conference.

If Lebron does not know what contraction is then he really needs to rethink the Hebrew Guru he has in his life. I am offended that an NBA star is dumber than bricks.

  • robb

pretending to be more ignorant than you really are is a terrible excuse. I mean, he’s stupid, but not THAT stupid. Or is he???

  • hillbilly

    LeBron fail English? That’s unpossible!

  • Ali Saadat

Tell em General! Supposedly Lebroom enjoys men in miami nightclubs

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

@Fat – You need to watch Silence of the Lambs again. The muzzle didn’t stop Lecter talking, it stopped him biting. He delivers some of the best dialogue in the film while wearing it. Yeesh.
