Chris Bosh Motivated By Carlos Boozer’s Words

by Marcel Mutoni@marcel_mutoni

Prior to the start of the Eastern Conference Finals, Carlos Boozer informed the world that the Miami Heat only have two great players, neither of which is named Chris Bosh.

Three games, during which Bosh averaged 25 points and 7 boards per night, it might be time for the helpless Boozer to revise his scouting report of the Heat.

After notching his second 30-point game of the series, Chris Bosh tried to play off Boozer’s comments, but finally admitted that they do indeed provide him with added motivation.

From Yahoo! Sports and the Miami Herald:

Bosh has read and heard all the skepticism and talk of him being overrated and soft. No All-Star gets ridiculed more than Bosh. Some of it has stung. And while James and Wade often appear inseparable, commanding the spotlight and major commercials, Bosh admittedly comes off as eccentric. Before games, he will read a book rather than listen to Rick Ross or Drake. Off the court, he usually hangs out with his fiancée, Adrienne Williams.

“I’m human. It is what it is,” Bosh said of the negativity. “I really don’t care for it. If it’s not positive, I don’t listen to it. I’m a good ballplayer. There’s always going to be somebody throwing rocks no matter what you do. So I just continue to go. I know who is in my corner, my teammates, my family. I talk to them. I get better every day. And I play with passion. That’s all that matters.”

It was encouraging to see Bosh have a second 30-point game in this series, and it’s probably no coincidence that he’s doing it in this series, after Boozer’s comments. Bosh offered mixed messages when asked if that motivates him in this series. “Not really,” he said. “We’ve been through so much in the regular season, that comments don’t really affect me too much. You can find inspiration in all different ways. It does nothing but help. I think about it when I’m shooting.”

Boozer said after Game 3 that he respects Bosh, but one gets the feeling that it’s too late for that now.

What this series has shown so far, is that if anything, it’s Carlos Boozer’s teammate Derrick Rose (despite his own individual struggles) who lacks star power on his squad.

    Like a BO$H!

  • spit hot fiyah

    max beat me to it

  • Ziva

Why do players always do this. Trashtalk done to real pros almost always backfires. Boozer, get him back game 4! zip up and play! go bulls, bring this to 7!

  • AD

wheres da hater lmao usally cb had like 100 comments on hate

  • Fat Lever

Well he still is perceived as soft, most of his points came from out on the perimeter, especially when Bosh himself said he need the ball where big men are supposed to get it. But when he’s knocking down his jumper like he did last night, it’s a moot point.

If Bosh continues this level of play, Miami will skate to the NBA title. So let it be said, so let it be written, etc., etc., etc.

  • Trout

Chi town need to have the role players step up when Miami lock down on DRose and that should make things a little more even.

  • fearlessbrother

Um y is bosh considered soft? Don’t people see the nba game has been changing and evolving! Bosh is super skilled player he can shoot, face you up, post you up…come on its not like he is doing anything different fromhis days in Tdot. So please people give him a break and don’t expect him to change his game over night now…shoot he is the best third option in the leauge!

Bosh is putting up numbers against a terrible defender in C Booz… Only have to look at what he did against KG to shoe how OVERRATED he is

    @ Fearlessbrother
    Because he plays

    Like a BOSH!

@The Babe, you must’ve missed Game 4 of the Boston series.

Does booz still think he is playing against psycho t or josh smith? Bosh was runnning circles all over him n taj. The biggest news though is rose who is not able to show why he deserved the MVP?

  • OvaChicken

Go Chris. You got maad skills + u got respect from real ballaz to do your thing + Carlos – back up off his D… for the simple fact…. (you know the rest) . Your game is that weak its funny boy !!

  • JTaylor21

Actually, Noah was the one checking Bosh while he was in the game and Gibs checks him when in the game so don’t act like he was just destroying Booz. He did his thing vs very good defenders in Noah and Gibs.

  • bashmo

@The Babe KG is the same build and bodytype as bosh. When you throw in KG’s intensity and defensive prowess..Bosh will have a hard time no matter what. Noah and Boozer are too slow to defend CB4..and GIbson guarding Bosh is a joke.

  • bull22

@mubwar, you know if rose did not make it out of first round, i would agree with you. but this man has done alot to get this team to this point without begging wade or james to be on this team… he acts like a real man and does not blame others when he rightfuly could. glad your vote did not count, especially after the great acceptance speech he made….

Atbull22 ima huge fan of rose, he converted me near the end of the season. I just don’t feal he deserved it. I have dirk the king n superman all ahead of him. Great talent n future superstar but he didnt deserbe it this year the media gave to him sincewe all know this world is controled by them

  • CeeLowe

Huh. I like that Chris Bosh reads books and spends time with his fiance. It’s really refreshing. Maybe I should reconsider Bosh…. But then I remember that epic flop he pulled off when Boozer’s elbow went an inch infront of him during the regular season. Yeah nah still don’t like Bosh as a player.

  • rich

i dont understand why he does flopping and all that now, he never did it last year and he went ham on people and would routinely slam on a big mans head. i think he just feels locked into that jumpshooting big role and hes strugling to get confidence attacking the hole strong

  • http://www.bulls.com Rigo Gonzalez

Boozer had no business saying what he said.
I honestly think he’s still heated cause he wanted to go to Miami. He has a home there and all.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Slick Ric

um… so now bosh is better or has more star power than Rose. lol

  • http://www.sonicbids.com doyouwantmore

Boozer looked pretty timid last night. I had to laugh when he hesitated on an open dunk, changed his mind because he knew he’d look a coward, and then blew the dunk attempt anyway. Boozer looked like a poor man’s Bosh last night.

  • @Deknow

The one person in the entire NBA that should have nothing to say to Chris Bosh is Carlos “I haven’t been good since 6th grade” Boozer!

  • Sparker

i thought gibson deserved the credit for getting bosh going. bosh’s run started immediately after taj was sending some serious trash talk in his direction.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Angel of Stern

who listens to Rick Ross …?

  • Eddie1

@Angel of Stern I do. Ross knows how to make good music. He’s not a gangster. But he’s a good selector of beats. Don’t hate.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Angel of Stern

fair enough, in my city he really isn’t very popular, but thats cool.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Angel of Stern

i was just more surprised that out of all the people to pick from to prove the point, it was Rick Ross.

  • http://hoopistani.blogspot.com hoopistani

Boozer didn’t exactly disrespect Bosh, he just ignored him.

  • @Zekeyboi

listen was disrespectful he knew wat he was doign, in the end he just allowed himself to be made a fool of, and that is why I like Bosh, he’s smart. Don’t worry about another mans game, or their status, just do you! if you’re gonna rob CB of his credit cos he is not ‘hard’ in said term then you are also a fool.
Rose great player bt wasn’t MVP for me.

  • brando

I think they chose Rick Ross to reference because of him being from MIA

Carlos the Snoozer Looser more like. When he talk ish he like a p#$$y , an OOzer :-)
