Dwyane Wade Sprains Ankle vs Nuggets

The condensed season is leading to tons of unfortunate player injuries, and the most recent and perhaps the most important and worrisome one yet may have been Dwyane Wade’s ankle sprain last night. Some details, via ESPN: “Dwyane Wade’s had countless sprained ankles in his life but said he was never in as much pain as he was after rolling his right ankle Friday night. Wade said he feared his ankle was broken after he landed on Denver Nuggets forward Al Harrington’s foot in the fourth quarter of the Miami Heat’s 117-104 loss. X-rays showed that wasn’t the case. But Wade’s status was unclear as he left the Pepsi Center with the Heat on a three-game losing streak. ‘It never hurt that bad before,’ Wade said. ‘It’s not broken so that is the positive. Everything else & you know. I’ve sprained my ankle plenty of times but I’ve never sprained it like that before.’ Wade was coming to help on defense when he landed on Harrington’s foot, jamming his own foot before bowing his ankle on the court.”

D Wade is starting to show the wear and tear. These injuries will take their toll. Miami’s window, with the team as currently constructed, is probably open for 4 more years. Le Bronsons “not 6 not 7″ prediction is not looking good.

  • Ldub

he shouldnt have been in the game anyways. Heat werent pulling this one out…you could see it in their body language.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

this could be a blessing in disguise.

  • T-Money

jtaylor: agreed. wade has been playing like a– this year, somewhat lazy too. and bron always explodes when wade is out because he has to be aggressive for the full 48.

  • huami

@Jtaylor21 how is that a blessing? Are you expecting Norris cole to play well again?

  • http://Slamonline.com Rocksinmypants

According to Jtaylor it’s a blessing in disguise for the heat. If it were the lakers and Kobe it’d be they’re done for. Amusing.

  • T-Money

rocks: because it’s totally the same thing. matt barnes would just score 30 a night, right?

  • deafballer

Lebron plays his best when he knows he has to be selfish. so for regular season, Lebron by himself won’t be too bad… just look at his cleveland days. Come playoffs where the pressure and intensity level are higher… he may need wade again. So if wade is out for a little while i don’t think it will really matter.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Dagger

JTaylor is right: the Heat were playing well without Wade, and this will give Wade some time to heal his various injuries while avoiding some of the worst rigours of the compressed schedule.

  • http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=pawtucketymca Gametimeweezy

Absolutely, more playing time for Norris Cole is always good and lets see who else can step up. The real season doesn’t start until the playoffs for this team anyways. How long is Mike Miller out for?

  • http://Slamonline.com Rocksinmypants

Money, of course not. There are two guys capable of performing. Bynum and Gasol aren’t too shabby if you ask me. Plenty of teams could do worse than that tandem if their star goes down.

  • Ldub

blessing and a curse. youve got to hit the right stride going into the playoffs…if Dwade can get and stay healthy, We could see another 20+ win run (hopefully heading into the playoffs). Blessing-Lebron has to step up for 48 minutes. Curse-when Dwade comes back, Lebron will probably go back into anti agressiveness in he final minutes. Chemistry plays a really big part. Its only been one year and some change. They have to figure out the final minutes of games…blow outs thru 36 minutes mean nothing

  • Ldub

@Mr. Right—you are wrong. Injuries occur when you play too many games too close together. You dont have time to heal properly. Everyone is getting hurt, Gasol, Kobe, Melo, Drose, Ray Allen, Pierce, even Lebron sat out a game. These Back to back to backs are crazy…and the 4 games in 5 nights too. Its not age (wear and tear), its the schedule.

I want to see more bron bosh pick and rolls.

the heat need wade for big games thats 4 sure lebron dominates against poor teams but usually goes in his shell in big games

  • KING

at the end of the day dwyane wade has the killer instinct that lebron doesnt have so during clutch moments of a close game the heat will still lose because lebron never accepts the challenge

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

    Co sign ed, and king…

  • Eric

If Lebron only dominates against poor teams how did he lead his team to the best record two years in a row? Or, how exactly was he able to win the MVP award two years in a row? And after Shaq left the Heat, and before Lebron joined the Heat what exactly did Wade do with all his clutchness and Killer instinct?

  • http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=pawtucketymca Gametimeweezy

    Eric ftw!

  • Flash

So how long is he gonna be out?

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Anybody who thinks its a blessing in disguise, if Wade does not play, obviously thinks Lebron is clutch. Also if Lebron is better playing as the man, he should have stayed on Cavs win 6 straight MVP’s and win maybe one ring. Lebron needs Wade and stated that on his television show last year. BOOK IT!!

  • RKJ92

The Seed, You Are A Moron. BOOK IT!!

  • hulahula

at least not at his knee

  • anynomous

players are dropping like flies. the nba season will be a bust unless the league expands the roster to 17 or 18 players to compensate for the injuries that will undoubtedly persist. otherwise, there will no reason to continue to watch games.

  • shutup

I agree with the curse and the blessing, letting other people have to carry the burden is good, Lebron is clutch enough, he dismantled the Bulls last year and what about what he did to the Pistons? He carried this team to the finals last year, and I think him having to step up will bring the best out of him and will force the rest of the team to step up (hopefully mainly Bosh) still havent seen that post game that was reported on before the season and him supposedly bulking up to play center was a joke

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

Can the Heat NOW please give Jones some court time…?

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

On a side note: Does anyone else think that Tyler Hansborough in those ‘reggie miller’ goggles makes him look like a squash player?

  • http://www.fiba.com Darksaber

Hmm, calf strain (achilles alert!!) then an ankle sprain.
    Fly Wade 2 problems, perhaps?

  • Cameron

Hopefully Wade will be out for the season…then LeBron gets screwed with an injury and Bosh is the only one left.

  • BallSoHard

More like the first 36 mins.

  • JML-G

@Cameron – hopefully yo mother dies

  • http://www.optimabbc.be Max

Eric, think about Miami-Chicago –> This is my house. :)

  • Larry Johnson’s Gold Tooth

i dont think anyone should wish ill will upon anyone as far as injuries go BUT….i like seeing the HEAT lose…I GUESS its a sick pleasure..

    Cameron. You dumb a$$ $imple Mut#aFu(ka !!

  • ME

The Seed, since 2006 how far has the Cavs made it in the NBA, compare to MiamiHEAT? You need to take “what it is you have against” LeBron and be objective. Haven’t u also heard in interviews, where LeBron, Bosh & Wade said while they prepared & play for the USA basketball Team, they always joked about the 3 of them playing together one day. Though, u didnt say it..dont hate on LeBron going to Miami…he was FREE. He didnt stay in Cleveland and DEMAND a trade. As far as I see, Wade need LeBron too. Now if they can win a ‘ship together….let’s wait & see.

  • ME

Cameron, u cant be a HUMAN BEING..r u for real? How can u wish bad for another person? SmDH.GOSH. Regardless of which player is injured from whichever team, how can a human being wish BAD for him.

  • Red

He said injury not death, calm down. I don’t like seeing the Heat win either.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ngtWdgOz0o&feature=related ab40

Wade should go hakeem and just wear every brace known to man at the exact same time. He’s already playing on his old shoes because he can’t adjust to the lunar foam. I hope he get’s well soon but just his posture alone (hunched forward) is gonna cause injuries.

  • andy

people say lebron is not clutch. so im interested to know what people think about this
the game he played against detroit where he took over in the 4th n OT(?) an got the cavs into the finals.
do we look as that as a fluke?
or lebron just on a cold streak at closing?

  • http://www.t-mac.com/tmac/index unf*ckwitable

@rocksinmyhead, Kobe isnt playing with the best player in the league in his team, if he goes down there is no LBJ there who has to pick up the slack.

  • http://Slamonline.com Rocksinmypants

@Fu(k, maybe you’re not understanding what I was trying to say.

  • http://www.t-mac.com/tmac/index unf*ckwitable

Thats always possible, im no genius.

  • rosado3p

Cameron is just a hardcore NBA fan. tell me none of us have been watching agame and then the opposing team’s best player gets an injury or a rough foul and we cheer? none of us have done that? its not me wishing him wrong or anything. i dont sit with a lebron james voodoo doll, stabbing it with a needle, hoping that the real one feels the pain. its just me wanting my team to do well, is all…. LOLOL
