Blazers More Open to Moving Gerald Wallace

The reports are saying the same thing: Gerald Wallace is definitely on the trading block. According to Chad Ford from ESPN.com: “It’s no secret that Kaman is on the block. Given that the Hornets really don’t want much in return, I’m surprised he hasn’t found a home already. The Warriors, Rockets and Heat have shown a lot of interest. [...] The Blazers balked a bit at moving Wallace at the start of the season, but they seem more open to it now. Nicolas Batum is their long-term answer at the small forward position, and they aren’t really competing for a title.”

To the Knicks for Carmelo… Make it happen, Allen.

  • Riggs

wow are you kidding me? why doesnt Gerald get more respect? He’s the epitome of hustle everytime I see him play.

  • thor

Exactly my thought Riggs, he is the one doing work for that team.

  • ohnoitsreddog

Yup, I think Wallace mastered the block from behind before Lebron did.

I’d gladly trade Odom’s lazy butt for Wallace.

  • David M.

He would be a solid piece for the Heat if Portland decides to trade him there.

  • Shem

    To the Raptors

Blazers can’t afford to lose his toughness and hustle.

Id take Wallace over Batum every time. NOBODY in the game plays harder than Wallace.

  • Detroit Dave

I’d give away any Piston not named Stuckey, Monroe or Knight for G. Wallace.

  • roybot

@Riggs of course he’s the workhorse of the team, but it isn’t always resulting in wins if you have been watching the Blazers. He tends to be passive offensively anywhere but on the homecourt. Batum clearly has the higher ceiling, and Blazers won’t hesitate to deal him if a good enough deal comes along. What makes you think they wont do the same to Wallace?

I really like wallace. He hustles, plays d, and shoots well. Ppl really gotta respect him more. Any team he goes to will have an upgrade

Turkoglu for Gerald? I know Blazers wanted Hedo a couple years back.

  • Shecky Shabazz

@dave I haven’t seen too many pistons games this year, but I would move stuckey too. The only untouchables on that team are knight and monroe.

    Nobody loves Gerald.

  • Jose

I think wallace would be awesome to have, but who does Miami have to trade for Crash? Miller and/or Battier maybe?

  • Thelonious

I love him as a Blazer fan but he doesn’t mesh well without guys who can shoot around him.

  • SportsFerDayss

Get rid of him! He works hard plays ok at home but really? 29% shooting and 8 points on the road won’t cut it. Wesley mathews ray felton g wallace for deron willaims and maybe anthony morrow.

Guys, read the artcile again. Miami is showing interest in Kaman, not Wallace. Gerald doesn’t really have a place in Miami’s offense.

the only reason they are looking to trade him is because they are worried he will leave to the free agency this year.

  • Mike From Spain

Wallace for the one of the two backup PGs in sota and picks? What else do the Twolves have that might interest the Blazers? Of course, it is hard to trade with direct rivals for playoff berths…

  • Sactownking

Wow… Second best player on the team by a ways..

  • Blazersfan

As a Blazers fan, I love Gerald Wallace. Most people in Rip City do too. The problem is he is horribly inconsistent. He plays hard at home, and disappears on the road. The Blazers would like to keep him, but if GW being traded is needed to bring a top tier PG to Portland, the Blazers front office won’t hesitate.
