Charlotte Bobcats Bought Out Boris Diaw

The acrimony between Diaw and the Bobcats had been building for quite some time now, and today, they officially severed ties. Per the Charlotte Observer: “Power forward Boris Diaw and the Charlotte Bobcats have agreed on a buyout of his remaining contract that should be completed in time for Diaw to be eligible for another team’s playoff roster. Bobcats vice president of basketball operations Rod Higgins confirmed that early Wednesday morning to the Observer. The buyout, which should be completed sometime today, would make Diaw a free agent in time to sign with a contender. Meanwhile the Bobcats open one of 15 roster spots and save some of what’s left of Diaw’s $9 million salary. It’s not known just how much money Diaw agreed to give up for his freedom. Diaw played only twice in his last eight games with the Bobcats and has had a strained relationship with coach Paul Silas, who was quite critical of his effort.”

SLAM, you have recently embarked on a strange stylistic path in which you report things that literally just happened in the past tense. I won’t call it grammatically incorrect, but it’s bloody annoying. It’s like you are trying to drum up cheap tabloid headlines out of run-of-the-mill basketball affairs. Poor. And Boris Diaw is a lazy player. (Sorry, let me re-phrase that in SLAM vernacular: Jimmer said Boris Diaw was a lazy player…)

Boris is finally free…where will he land? Hmmm :)

I’d take boris over fisher. Phoenix should bring him Back to help their playoff push

Boris is free? From playing time and a spot in the rotation that he threw out? Seriously, how is an out of shape, lazy, undersized pro-athlete still in the NBA. Should have happened a lot sooner.

Definitely talented enough to remain in the NBA, but his Eddy Curryesque work ethic it hurting him badly.

Will the BULLS finally make a move and pick him ???? They’re not any better imo than last season..and have missed so many acquisitions this season..Stephen Jackson, Jason Richardson, Tmac, Arenas, Caron Butler, Jr Smith, Barbosa..etc

  • Rainman

    Bring him bak to PHX!

@patrick do the bulls need to really pick up anyone? they’re the #1 seed in the East and have beaten both Miami and Orlando, the #2 and #3 seeds without the MVP D. Rose…I dont think you want to mess with what they got going…

  • @boweezy24

    KNICKS! :D

It’s too bad there’s no ‘b1tch clause’ that prevents players that behave like this from signing with a contender. Oh, and that forces them to sign with Washington instead.

Dude fell off the SECOND he left PHX!? I used to think he had game, but dude seems more interested in banging cheeseburgers rather than banging in the post…

  • patrick

BLUR: ya, but i don’t think they’ll be able to beat Miami in the playoffs. I think they’ll lose in 5 or 6.

  • Mike Mihalow

Probably on his way to San Antonio

Boris is probably one of the most cerebral and unselfish players in the NBA. Unfortunately, you can easily say he’s too smart and unselfish for his own good (really his team’s good)unless there is a large enough carrot dangled in front of him. By carrot I don’t mean money necessarily either, he didn’t exactly play his butt off looking for a big payday in a contract year. Silas is too old school and kept trying to turn Boris into something he’s not, hence the impasse.

    BETCATS… More like GAYCATS

His shooting stats this year aren’t all that good. Rebounding is all right, though.

Not really sure how he’d help any team right now. I mean, if you can’t find playing time on the Bobcats…

Kind of hope he goes back to Phoenix, just to see if it helps to team him up with Nash again.
