Dwyane Wade May Work With a Shooting Coach

For the first time, Dwyane Wade openly talked about the left knee pain that bothered him throughout the postseason, and discussed the possibility that he may employ a shooting coach for the first time in his career this summer. Per the Miami Herald: “Wade said he would not be inclined to go to the Olympics if he cannot play. Wade said the knee caused him discomfort throughout the postseason and, ‘I had to go through a lot to play. If people knew what I had to go through just to play, it was crazy. The biggest thing was I had a lot of swelling. My left knee is my power knee. It’s my explosion knee. When you are dealing with knee issues, you are dealing with lateral quickness [issues]. I dealt with it. At times, I did great with it. At other times, I didn’t do great with it.’ He said he had his knee drained before Game 3 against Indiana, when he scored five points on 2-for-13 shooting. ‘Very sore,’ he said. ‘It was so much swelling, and I wanted some relief.’ Wade said he might work with a shooting coach ‘for the first time ever’ after a postseason in which he shot 31 percent on mid-range jumpers (50 for 163) and 29 percent on three-pointers (10 for 34). The goal, he said, ‘is to try to do more in the sense of my three-point game and midrange game, getting that back. My mechanics aren’t that bad. I don’t have an ugly shot, not one of those Shawn Marion shots. There are certain things in my shot I can change.’ Wade said a shooting coach could ‘give me a different look and [suggest] where I can get better.’ He said he also wants ‘to continue to get better in the post.’”

Wow! At some point your game has to evolve. This should help his team and himself. Hope knee gets better

swayne never has had that 3 game consistent, its about time he gave an extra threat to miamis outside game, they really need a big man this summer

If he could regain his 06 touch, that would make MIA a much deadlier team on the offensive end.

“Not one of those Shawn Marion shots” – ouch.

^lol that stood out to me too, they were team mates for a quick second. adn i see this as wade admitting that he is not the athlete he used to be, so he knows he has too shoot more from the outside

Wade and Marion are close friends by the way. Funny he took a lil jab at his boy. Haha

About time. NBA reputations are so hypocritical. Always wondered why D Wade never got flack a la Lebron for being a horrible (much worse than LBJ) shooter and for not developing a post game even though he was one of the strongest most athletic shooting guards in the NBA.

This guy has been one dimensional for a long time and probably is daylight ahead of Chris Paul when it comes to NBA players who have gotten a free pass with the media

Its about time! I’ve seeing and saying this for a while. You have to develop a jumpshot eventually if you are a SG. Especially the type of player wade is. You cannot take the bumps and bruises for a whole career. You have to step back from the rim if you want to extend your career. AL LA MJ, Kobe, etc.

    KOBE 2.0 here we go!

  • bdogg

this is great but his knee is much more important. i do not understand why he can not just do the kobe procedure and be ready for london..that tells me it is pretty serious!!!

  • Wade’s Post Game

If you ever watched Wade play, you would have noticed that Wade’s post game was pretty well developed. Why do you think he always demands a double on the low block (ie KG the whole Boston series). But that jumper lacks any consistency. He needs to get it to the mid-40 % and we’ll be good

honestly i hope Wade and LeBron sit out the Olympics i mean they have a gold medal and they are NBA champions let the younger guys like James Harden Rudy gay and Durant AI. bring home the g old its good for the young guys to go it allows them to elevate their game to another level .its just *no offense * unnecessary wear and tear on the body especially when you already have a gold medal.

DWade stay here and work on your jumper

This should have been done 2 years ago. That way he wouldnt have to explode so much now. Being 30 years old and arguably on the decline of his prime….it would greatly benefit him, his career and the team if he could knock down the jumper he was able to back in 06′ so easily. Well maybe not easily but we knew it was money.

it only took two championships to decide a shooting coach was a good idea. . .lol . . .glad he’s doing this though, He was hittin the 3 ball last year when they lost in the finals and the year before

I can fix his jump shot in two words: STOP DRIFTING. He tries to put too much MJ on his jumper and he fades and drifts and contorts way too much. Go up straight, face the basket, and I bet his percentage increases. He’s messing up his jumper by trying to draw the foul, making the shot harder than it needs to be.
