Dwyane Wade Says He Removed Himself From Recruiting Free Agents to the Heat This Offseason

While he was (obviously) instrumental in bringing LeBron James (and others) to Miami, Dwyane Wade said the Heat’s limited cap space led to him avoiding the recruitment process this offseason. Via the Sun-Sentinel: “Among the rumors swirling during free-agency was a clandestine meeting involving Dwyane Wade and Pat Riley with Lamar Odom. Not only didn’t it happen, but Wade said he removed himself from the team’s free-agent recruitment this offseason. ‘I left that all to them,’ Wade said, aware of the luxury-tax limitations of the Heat’s efforts. ‘I got away, understanding that we have little that we can do. And Pat Riley is the best at what he does, so he’s fine. We all understand the nature of the beast, what we’re dealing with.’”

The Heat’s Issues are going to doom them. Their biggest free-agent splash, after barely surviving Roy Hibbert and Tim Duncan in the playoffs and having Wade engage in his yearly ritual of dragging his knees through the playoffs are signing… Greg Oden. I hope LeBron James is ready to play 60 minutes a night ever night at a world class level.

that would mean that every heat game went to triple over time, which would be cool

Have you seen how massive Hibbert has become this summer? The man truly loves the game. Gives it his all. If he improves his hook shot, he can become a modern, defensive-orientated version of Bill Walton, his first NBA mentor.

well, according to this picture hibbert is 8 feet 5 and has biceps that are bigger than tim duncans head. the nba is in trouble

What issues are you talking about that’s going to “doom” the Heat? The heat have the deepest bench in the NBA. Lebron plays a lot of minutes during the playoffs, but thats expected. As far as this article, I think Wade just wanted to stay out of it this time around. Nothing more than that.

He looks like he’s ready to fuçk some $hit up too. Roy “Suge” Hibbert. And since he’s mixing it up with conditioning and speed training it’s pretty safe to say that the east is in trouble.

And Chris Paul is trying to fight HGH testing in the NBA???………….

  • 3Chainz

    roids..

  • Zia Paul

    lololol. Deepest bench.

  • JL

oden was a great get. Even if just for late game situations or half a game, he’d be a huge boost.

    Deepest bench? WTF

  • Bedot

he looks to be about 7 foot 4/5 in this pic. ridiculous.

  • JibbsIsBallin

Please tell me…which teams have a bench close to the heat.

“A clandestine meeting involving Dwyane Wade and Pat Riley with Lamar Odom.” Maybe they were just shooting some jumpshots (or crack).

  • LP @ThisisEther

chris anderson, udonis, norris cole, and Ray allen…. I guess they do have an above average bench….i wouldn’t say “DEEP” tho…

    Good f*cking night!

  • LakeShow

    I feel what you’re saying…
    BUT
Bill Walton was a defensive beast!

Duncan has his own issues, age and Manu is done. The Pacers need to show they can win big when it counts.
