Dwyane Wade Wants to Shoot a Lot of Threes Like Mike Miller

Mike Miller is now a member of the Memphis Grizzlies. Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade seems to think he can eventually replace Miller’s deadly outside shooting. Per the Miami Herald: “Though Dwyane Wade said he intends to stay with the Heat beyond next season, he did not rule out opting out of his contract. He would make $20 million in 2014-15 and $21.5 million in 2015-16 if he does not opt-out either preceding summer. It’s possible he could take less money in exchange for more years. ‘We’ll see,’ Wade, 31, said Friday of the opt-out. ‘You have to figure out what’s best for yourself and what’s best for the team and then you come up with that answer.’ Of adding to his game, Wade said: ‘The only thing left for me to do is become Mike Miller and shoot a lot of threes.’ But he shot just 17 for 66 on threes last season and said he won’t decide until during the season whether to shoot more.”

Shoot your 3s with one shoe to be like Mike

  • Shooting Guard

    on point

  • Shooting Guard

    that’s not gonna work

  • bike

Oh Dwyane, just stop it. You silly little boy, you.

um…Career 28.9% three point shooter…Good luck with that.

  • Anthony

And the “Old man Transition” begins….we saw it with Vince Carter…we saw it with “Ason” Kidd… (Once again “Jason” I gave him back his “J” when he became a 3pt “specialist” for Dallas & then NY). When your body begins to break down & your athleticism fades its what you have to do.

  • Feez_22

    Oh the joker wade is!

  • danpowers

    whatever makes you happy dwyane

    He Only Made 17?!?!

  • LP @ThisisEther

Dwade could become a 3 point threat (a threat, not a marksman) if he wanted to, more than Lebron is, i know for that SURE….. but he has been smart throughout his entire career, basically deciding not to settle for 3 pointers throughout his entire career….

he’d easily put up numbers Deron Williams-like 3 point percentages…..

    over the last 2 seasons…..
    Dwyane Wade is – 32 for 122 from the 3pt line……

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

there is no reason to believe Dwyane Wade would ever approach 40% from 3 for a season. LeBron just did that.

  • i_ball

    Greg Popovich agrees

  • JibbsIsBallin

He’s a streaky shooter, especially on 3′s. He’ll have some good and some bad nights.

  • robb

    scary… for the Heat fans

  • Evan Boland

And yet Kobe step slamming it down fools throats. Mamba.

john wall makes dwyane wade look like mark price

I like how he says, “The only thing left for me…” As if his game is perfect. I would rather see him work on his post game. Hes got big shoulders. I could see him punishing ppl down low more consistently. Plus his post game is already above average. I guess he’s just trying to complement James’s game. If he wasn’t dwyane wade he works be an excellent 6th man.

  • Nathan Shane Long

Dwyane Wade has never had shooting range and has ignored developing it during his career

  • RedDragon10

I don’t know. If he improves his 3 pointer like Lebon did over the years, the Heat would be hard to stop. He should at least be as efficient a 3 point shooter as he was in 08-09 and 09-10

  • LakeShow

So you want, LeBron, Bosh and Wade to primarily focus on post work?…. They don’t have Miller which makes Allen their only other big outside threat. He only played 25-ish mins last year.

One of the big three needs to be able to stretch the floor out and it seems ludicrous for it to be Bosh, but I guess he isn’t a much better rebounder than Wade or Bron…

  • LakeShow

Which is only 2% worse than his career percentage. So at least he is consistent.

  • Chris LeDon
  • Nathan Shane Long

maybe they use James Jones who is a great three point shooter to replace Mike Miller and play his role also Chalmers and Battier are three point threat on the perimeter

  • LakeShow

That would be good. IF jones can still play. Yes he can shoot, but can he play?
Spoelstra played him like every 3rd game for 10 mins last season.
I don’t see him just falling in love with him again.

  • Gman

    great… you get a cookie

  • Busta213

Lol! Why would you think that?

  • LakeShow

I was encouraging him with a thumb up because he didn’t call anyone a troll and used all lower case letter where needed.

  • LP @ThisisEther

currently, dwade doesn’t even care to shoot 3s. I’m saying, if he actually cared to try and make himself into a 3 point threat, I think he could become one…….nice midrange game, great form, lower body strength, upper body strength, why not? its not like he has a josh smith release

  • LP @ThisisEther

see my comment above, and i didnt say approaching 40%, i’m saying ~35%….thats a decent threat.
and lebron has just recently found 3pt accuracy

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

    I wouldn’t even say he’s steaky from 3 he’s pretty God aweful.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

LeBron’s worst season from 3 is better than Wade’s AVERAGE. He definitely cannot become what you are saying he can.

  • Chris LeDon
  • Nathan Shane Long

James Jones would be in the rotation for any other teams in the league the only problem is that he play the same position as Lebron F’N James small forward and BY THE WAY BOY YOU WILL FOREVER BE A TROLL CUNT ON THIS WEBSITE KNOW THAT!!!!

He’s probably doing this because the Heat, being in the East, can use the regular season as a six-month tuneup for the Playoffs. He can refine his jumper while conserving his attacks until Miami really needs them in May.

I’m interested to see how Miami does when they need to play at least two competitive Eastern Conference opponents during the Playoffs instead of one like last season’s cruise control bs.

  • playa

He never was one, every single season he had below average %.

  • LakeShow

And just when you thought you could have a sane conversation with a stranger on the internet….

  • Allan

Just remember ALL CAPS when you spell the man name

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

You accidentally hit caps lock bruh

  • ThatManSam

Anyone can shoot the three, the question is can he make his?

  • alex miller

you mean harder, they’re already hard to stop

  • grgeblck

“The only thing left for me…” sounds more like this is his last choice, because his team is talented enough.

  • spit hot fiyah

got more soul than a sock with a hole

  • LP @ThisisEther

Lebron works on his 3ball game, so of course he has a better percentage…and he is a known career 3pt chucker…. wade doesn’t even care about shooting them, let alone practicing…. He’s a better career mid-range shooter than Lebron, so i believe he has potential to be a better 3pt shooter if he works on this…. i don’t think he would work on it tho, i think he is just joking….

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

NO. Wade has proven to be willing to shoot a lot of 3′s, he just sucks at it.
Wade has had 2 seasons of over Three 3pt Attempts a game….
And 1 season of over Two and a Half 3pt Attempts a game…..
He stopped shooting them the same year the Heat won a championship. Last season was the least he’s shot since 2006, and it was his most efficient offensive season.
