Wizards, Randy Wittman Nearing 3-Year Contract Extension

The Wizards and head coach Randy Wittman are close to agreeing on a three-year contract extension, according to Yahoo. Wittman led a young Wizards team to 44 wins, a 5-seed in the East and a first-round series win over Chicago.

The Washington Wizards are nearing an agreement on a three-year contract extension with coach Randy Wittman, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Wittman’s contract had been set to expire this summer, but both the organization and coach had been motivated to extend the partnership. The contract is expected to be finalized in the near future.

Wittman had a breakthrough season for the Wizards, advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals before losing in six games to Indiana. After head coaching jobs in Minnesota and Cleveland, Wittman has found stability and success centered on the Wizards’ talented young core of John Wall and Bradley Beal.
