Al Jefferson Growing Increasingly Frustrated

It’s a question of playing time, and not being on the floor during key moments in games. The Salt Lake Tribune investigates: “Al Jefferson sat noticeably on the end of Utah’s bench in the fourth quarter and overtime of a 100-95 loss to the lowly Washington Wizards on Monday night at EnergySolutions Arena. When he stood during timeouts, he did so far from the team huddle, with his hands on his hips. When the buzzer sounded, he was the first off the bench and into the locker room. And when approached by the media following the defeat, he refused to comment, forcefully waving reporters off with his left hand. Yes, it’s rather obvious that Jefferson isn’t a happy camper these days. The Jazz center, and offensive centerpiece in the weeks since the Deron Williams trade, last played on Monday night with 54 seconds remaining in the third period. He spent the rest of the game on the pine as Utah’s younger players, most notably rookie Derrick Favors, led a furious fourth-quarter rally to force the extra session. Coach Tyrone Corbin, when asked if there’s an issue, said that he simply thought the younger players had earned the right to finish. But Jefferson’s reaction told a different story. In the past four games, he has issued three no-comments to reporters, along with being ejected from Saturday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. ‘The young guys were playing well,’ Corbin said. ‘They played hard and I thought they deserved to be on the floor.’”

AL JEFFERSON is a black hole on OFFENSE and doesn’t play DEFENSE. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

Big Al and Paul Millsap are the two things Utah needs to build around. Al is one of the best true centers in this league. Don’t screw it up and lose him like DWill.

yeah al, it is a bad situation to be in. but half of your team signed onto chicago, your hall of fame coach is gone and deron, its called the lottery.

His team lost to the Wizards at home while he sat on the bench. I can see why he’d be pissed…

If they guys playing were leading a comeback as the article says then Al has no leg to stand on. Obviously the coach felt he wasn’t being productive and kept him on the bench. Whatever happened to respecting your coaches decisions?

This isn’t just one game dfrance. I’m not saying I’m supporting him, ’cause I haven’t watched enough of the Jazz games. But, big Al has probably the best back to basket game in the league. Cant really see why Corbin wouldn’t play him.

At the beginning of the year, wasn’t he promised an All-Star bid? Wasn’t this the year he goes back to the playoffs? Wasn’t this the year he recertifies himself among the best at his position? Life comes at you fast. By the way, the Wizards swept Utah this season.

You gotta feel for Big Al – he’s spent a lot of years on bad teams, and then he goes to the Jazz thinking he’s finally going to win. Then 2 things happen that no NBA fan thought would happen this season: Sloan retires and the Jazz trade Deron. Now he’s back in re-building mode again. Sad.

it is pointess to say he needs to start playing defense cos it is just getting old! secondly he needs to realize his best chance to win something is to get that he’s not a center(although he can play that position at times) if he wants to win so bad
if he’s available for a reasonable price I would like to see him on the spurs, pops could put in some additional work during the summer

Co-sign Keep 100%. Utah has potentially the best front court (PF and Center at least) in the NBA… Don’t make the mistake of letting him go.

Utah, doesnt have the best of anything. D. williams is gone!!!!!

He’ll be back in Boston soon.

the lack of playing time to finish off the game on top of a BYU-like honors code that keeps him from f’in around really must be gettin to him…

All Jefferson should leave his ego out of it and play harder the next time around to make sure he’ll play the last minutes.
And Tyrone Corbin should now know that he needs his veterans to finish and that the young guns are nice in spurts.

Al is not a center. He’s an incredible low post player who doesn’t play much defense. That’s especially hard to hide when he’s playing center.
