Free Agency Open Thread

Every official transaction, all in one place.

The NBA is back! Free agency is the first step toward getting back on the court, and we’ve already seen a botched CP3-Lakers trade, Dwight Howard rumors swirling, and a dozen other agreements reached between teams and unrestricted players—all before the “official” start of the free agency period. That drops today, and while you can get the details on each individual story via the SLAM news feed, consider this the all-encompassing, streamlined forum for all things free agency. Below is a live list of every move, big or small, and we’ll be constantly updating this as new breaks over the next few days. So follow along as we digest all the craziness, and as we inch closer to Christmas Day.

  • B. Angus

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Meanwhile the Bulls are still “letting the market come to them” as they watch Bogans replacement candidate after Bogans replacement candidate sign with other teams.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Gilbert Arenas got absolutely paid. No NBA player made more money this year than that guy..

  • Oh Nose

    ^up CO-SIGN.

Every year we’re behind the scenes getting NOTHING done

  • #6marjons

  • http://www.slamonline.com megatron

where is the shane battier signing?

  • Chukaz

There should be a disclaimer saying that all transaction aren’t final until Stern vetoes them…

  • MikeC.

NY amnestied Billups. Who needs a championship-tested PG?

  • MikeC.

Mavs should amnesty Shaun Marion for showing up to camp with that hairdo.

  • B. Angus

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

Didn’t the Raps acquire Pietrus for a 2nd rounder?

  • Tre

I hope the Knicks makes some moves… We need a point now…

  • http://www.offthebackboard.wordpress.com OTB

VC going to the Mavericks. He’s an upgrade over DeShawn (at least offensively), but the Mavs window has pretty much closed since they let Chandler and Barea go.

  • http://www.offthebackboard.wordpress.com OTB

Also, Oden had yet ANOTHER physical set back, just like I predicted. People kept saying how this kid has potential to be big, blah blah. How many players have you known that got injured for the first 3-4 years of their career and then all of a sudden played numerous injury free seasons? The man is just not cut out for the rigors of the NBA, considering the brittleness of his body. And this is with modern medicine. I feel bad for him (worse for Roy), but Oden is pretty much done. It’s like when people expected Kwame Brown to all of a sudden start showing upside after a good game or two, or Darko. Your place in the league reveals itself pretty quickly, and Oden’s is that of a BUST.

  • AiRsMiTh

    Since when did Roy retire?!

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

OTB: Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Grant Hill, Chris Webber, Mark Price, Antonio McDyess, Baron Davis. And that’s just recent stuff. And when Oden got minutes, he produced some pretty impressive numbers (22.3 points, 17.1 boards, and 4.5 blocks per 48 minutes). That’s not Kwame status. So it’s not that Oden is a bust. Just a very talented and nice kid who got the worst luck imaginable.

damn, clippers got caron for $8mil a year. talk about a discount. they’re gonna be pretty good.. until you realize vinny is still their coach

  • bt

@Cabose you forgot to add 8.53 fouls per 48 minutes, not so impressive.

  • Kent Kanada

How does Oden keep milking money? Is he worth this much money?! He already looked a hundred as a rookie.

  • RandalJ

vale Brandon Roy… Dear Bulls front office, please hurry up and sign a (good) swing man

  • http://www.slamonline.com aman from arkansas

warriors should trade monta ellis for danny granger that would be nice.

  • https://plus.google.com/photos/106403650426394352312/albums/posts davidR

it wouldn’t be nice for the warriors

  • Matt

@aman from arkansas , Danny granger is a great player but why would you trade Monta Ellis , Monta Ellis = Best Underated player in the league

  • Mike

Monta Ellis = Most overrated black hole in the league

  • boom

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

The Pacers?? Whatever happened to Boston?

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

  • http://www.slamonline.com aman from arkansas

travis outlaw needs to go to the grizzlies and dalembert needs to head to the blazers.

  • http://SportsCipher.com Jaamal Braithwaite

I’m not sure Rip was the greatest pick up for the Bulls. I think they need a more young athletic 2 guard.

  • Jerome

Rip is an excellent addition to the Bulls. Open jumper after open jumper.Knicks still need a PG.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

@ SLAM: Jeremy Lin was picked up off waivers by the Houston Rockets.

  • JL

I think Tracy McGrady is now a Hawk.
